We have multiple openings for Computer Vision Scientists. You will perform research in the broad area of computer vision/machine learning for problems involving imagery, video, and high dimensional data. You will have the opportunity to engage in a diverse range of problems such as medical imaging, energy grid analytics, multi-modal information retrieval, and additive manufacturing.

These positions are in the Computational Engineering Division (CED) within the Engineering Directorate and will be filled at either the SES.1 or SES.2 level depending on your qualifications. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if you are selected at the higher level.

Essential Duties
- Implement algorithms for supervised and unsupervised analysis of complex data within application domains.
- Apply computer vision/machine learning tools to relevant data.
- Contribute to the fulfillment of projects and organizational objectives as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
- Interpret and present results to internal customers.
- Prepare technical reports.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
In Addition at the SES.2 Level
- Develop novel approaches for analysis of complex data within application domains.
- Present results to external customers.
- Publish and present results in peer-reviewed publications and scientific conferences.


Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Applied Statistics, or a related technical field or the equivalent combination of education and related experience.
- Experience in Computer Vision including algorithm development.
- Experience with one or more higher-level programming languages such as C/C++, Java, or Python.
- Experience with one or more machine learning libraries such as: scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, Keras, or Theano.
- Sufficient verbal and written communication skills necessary to effectively collaborate in a team environment.
In Addition at the SES.2 Level
- Comprehensive knowledge and experience in Computer Vision including experience in algorithm development.
- Proficient verbal and written communication skills necessary to effectively collaborate in a team environment and present and explain technical information.

Desired Qualifications
- Masters degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Applied Statistics, or a related technical field or the equivalent combination of education and related experience.
- Experience with Unix systems and high-performance computing clusters.
- Experience with issues related to data provenance and management.

Pre-Employment Drug Test: External applicant(s) selected for this position will be required to pass a post-offer, pre-employment drug test. This includes testing for use of marijuana as Federal Law applies to us as a Federal Contractor.

Security Clearance: This position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level clearance.

If you are selected, wewill initiate a Federal background investigation to determine if youmeet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or matter. In addition, all L or Q cleared employees are subject to random drug testing. Q-level clearance requires U.S. citizenship. If you hold multiple citizenships (U.S. and another country), you may be required to renounce your non-U.S. citizenship before a DOE L or Q clearance will be processed/granted.
