What Your Job Will Be Like:

Are you passionate about collaborating with IT and/or cyber colleagues to perform technical research and development to enable innovation within Sandia’s enterprise classified networks infrastructure? We are seeking a motivated IT Computing Infrastructure Engineer to join our dynamic OneStop Service Desk team. This is an excellent opportunity for an IT infrastructure professional to add to their IT abilities!

On any given day, you may be called to:

+ Provide users with interactive issue troubleshooting sophisticated computing hardware and software environment.

+ Monitor user issue tickets through to resolution by other support teams and document resolutions.

+ Work with application and system supporters to identify advanced solutions to user issues.

+ Improve user support application (e.g., issue tracking tool) through software design and development to increase performance and add functionality.

+ Work on maintaining a commercial tool and OneStop's customizations of that tool (e.g., upgrading to the latest version or identifying and resolving a scripting error)

This position is eligible for telecommuting and the selected applicant must live within a reasonable distance for commuting to the assigned work location when necessary.

Qualifications We Require:

+ Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology (IT) or other relevant field; Or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience

+ Minimum two (2) years experience in user support role and a strong customer service dedication

+ Experience with programming and scripting languages

+ Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE L security clearance

Qualifications We Desire:

+ Experience in some of the following:

+ High performance computing user environments (such as programming models, engineering applications, etc).

+ Systems administration experience with either Windows or Linux servers

+ DevOps tools, chat tools, web technologies, Knowledge-Centered Service (KCS) methods; Gitlab, Jira, Mattermost, or Joomla; IT Service Management (ITSM)

Security Clearance:

Sandia is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. Individuals in LTE positions may bid on regular Sandia positions as internal candidates, and in some cases may be converted to regular career positions during their term if warranted by ongoing operational needs, continuing availability of funds, and satisfactory job performance.
