The Special Projects Team (SPG) is seeking a Controls and Automation Systems Engineer to design controls for electromechanical and industrial systems. The Engineer would be responsible for designing and implementing the data flow and electromechanical control of industrial systems to achieve stability during dynamic operations.

Key Qualifications

  • 5+ years applicable experience in of electromechanical test stand design and engineering for motors, actuators, and other industrial electromechanical systems
  • Deep knowledge of various controls schemes and methods applicable for embedded controls systems
  • High level of proficiency with the following Software suites: Matlab, Simulink, LabVIEW, VeriStand, Python, Control Desk. (Developer Certified preferred)
  • Ability to implement Embedded Control Systems on National Instrument, dSpace, Speedgoat and other platforms
  • Demonstrated ability to specify and integrate DAQ sensors for reading: Voltage, Current, Flow, Pressure, Vibration, Proximity, Temperature, Force, Position, etc.
  • Familiarity with communication protocols: CAN, Ethernet, SPI, FlexRay, Modbus and other communication topologies.
  • Able to design of PCBs with microprocessors/DSP, communication topologies, and signal conditioning a plus
  • Ability to Test and Verify designs across wide environmental conditions

Description

Participate in the electromechanical system engineering activities from the controls engineer perspective
The engineer will work with EE/SW/ME engineers to gather test requirements and design the necessary aspects of the test stand control HW/SW and DAQ.
Generate official design documents and files in appropriate design toolchains
Develop integration plans, conduct hands on verification of designs and document simulation and test results.
The engineer will design and implement custom tests runs and test sequences to achieve the desired development and validation testing and data collection on the test stands.
Debug, root cause and correct field issues. Improve existing and 3rd party designs

Education & Experience

Master's Degree in EE, ME, SW, or Computer Engineering, PhD Preferred
