The Corporate Finance General Accounting Senior Accountant ensures the accuracy and integrity of the Company's books of accounts. Ensures accurate and timely analyses of accounts, schedules/reports, reconciliations and financial statements in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and in compliance with the financial policies. The Senior General Accountant handles the monthly close process in a timely manner, adheres to strict reporting deadlines for pre-close and close as published in the Financial Closing Calendar and the SLA and performs a balance sheet review which includes resolving outstanding issues, reviewing bank accounts, accruals, prepaid, fixed assets, intercompany activity, accounts payable and deferred income/expense. Performs interface activities for fixed assets, accounts receivable, billing and payroll and resolves day to day issues related to the general ledger.

 

General Ledger Functions (65%)

 

Knowledge of the accounting close process and due dates and knowledge of systems utilized to complete the monthly close, balance sheet analyses, interfaces and bank reconciliation including, but not limited to, Oracle financials and sub-ledger systems. Completes the various responsibilities associated with the monthly close and balance sheet analysis timely and accurately based on published Financial Closing Calendar. Resolves open issues timely and performs SOX controls.

 

General Ledger Maintenance:

 

  • Requests creation, modification, or deletion of master data (5%)

 

Journal Entry Processing

 

  • Completes JE Data backup to be used to create journal entry template (accruals, reserves, etc. and standard journals) with all documentation required by ADP policy for Revenue, expense, allocations, payroll and bonus (25%)
  • Reviews and approves JEs in accordance with ADP policy (5%)
  • Performs ad hoc journal entries (3%)

 

Close Process Coordination:

 

  • Resolves escalated items (7%)
  • Performs Variance Analysis (10%)

 

Account Reconciliations:

 

  • Reviews and certifies the account reconciliations (25%)

 

Intercompany:

 

  • Approves intercompany invoices to be processed/ recognized (5%)

 

 

 

Performs Other Related Duties, Various Project, Process Improvements, AP Urgent Cheque Requests (15%)

 

Policy and Procedure Adherence (15%)

 

Possesses proficiency of all policy and procedures that pertain to accounting transactions and treatment. Applies knowledge appropriately throughout all responsibilities. Strictly adheres to the Company's established policies and procedures.

 

  • Demonstrates personal responsibility and loyalty to the Company by adhering to corporate principles of business conduct especially in relation to conflict of interest, bribery and foreign corrupt practices.
  • Ensures compliance to published policies.
  • Observes regularity and punctuality in agreed work hours.
  • Treats all information of whatever nature gathered within the Company as confidential information.

 

Communication (10%)

 

Communicates with internal clients, as required, to resolve issues. Exhibits positive client relations when interacting with internal ADP associates.

 

  • Communicates financial results, and escalates and resolves issues in a timely manner.

Training (10%)

 

Possesses proficiency with various accounting systems and remain current with new process and procedure related to the systems.

 

  • Possesses and applies knowledge for the completion of moderately difficult to complex assignments.
  • Possesses broad knowledge of many accounting systems.

 

REQUIREMENTS

 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance required or equivalent in education and experience. CPA a plus.
  • 1 - 4 years general accounting experience or 2 - 3 years as an Accountant with a proven proficiency in performing moderately complex accounting activities.
  • In-depth knowledge of Excel required. Detail oriented, excellent follow-through skills, strong English language verbal and written communication skills. Effective time management skills, ability to work independently, familiarity with US currency.
  • Knowledge of Oracle Financials a plus.
  • Good knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • Analytical and should have an eye for details.
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills.
