We have an opening for a Cyber Analyst/Security Control Assessor to independently and collaboratively perform a wide range of activities associated with cyber security. This position is within the Information Technology Solutions Division (ITSD) of the Computing Directorate and matrixed to the Cyber Security Program (CSP) in support of the LivIT Program.

This position will be filled at either the 320.1 or 320.2 level depending on your qualifications. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if you are selected at the higher level.
Essential Duties
- Identify security concerns by analyzing computer system security control requirements and implementations to determine unmitigated risks to computer operating systems and networks.
- Provide advanced computer programming and/or related technical support for hardware, operating systems, and application software.
- Analyze complex information system security plans and testing documents, and assist programs in the development of testing procedures and security plan documentation.
- Perform advanced assessments in support of ongoing authorization of information systems.
- Conduct Cyber Security Program self-assessments and contribute to the development and completion of corrective action plans when needed for programs and CSP.
- Participate in external cyber security auditing functions and in the response, collection of data, preparation of reports to outside agencies and organizations internal and external to the Laboratory.
- Analyze and evaluate cyber security processes, procedures and policies for efficiency and accuracy.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
In Addition at the 320.2 Level
- Provide highly advanced technical assistance, training, and/or mentoring to others in area of cyber security by defining projects, tasks, and areas of responsibility for others.
- Automate complex CSP processes.
- Exercise independent judgement to define, develop, and implement original solutions to complex problems of a broad and diverse scope at the team, directorate, or institutional level.
- Bachelors degree in a computer or engineering related field or equivalent combination of technical training and experience.
- Extensive experience and knowledge of computer and network technologies and Apple, Windows, and/or Linux hardware and operating systems.
- Ability to analyze complex technical issues and develop effective solutions.
- Experience performing advanced risk analysis.
- Broad and in-depth knowledge and technical expertise and experience in one or more areas such as database technologies, software quality assurance, cyber security administration, computer hardware, computer programming, high performance computing, data analysis, or development of large websites.
- Experience and knowledge of the skills needed for a customer support role to include a focus on listening, rapport-building, good communication skills, friendly and approachable nature, courtesy and patience, and negotiating and influencing skills.
- Effective interpersonal skills necessary to collaborate, negotiate and influence all levels of personnel
- Proficient verbal and written communication skills necessary to effectively collaborate in a team environment and document, present and explain technical information.
In Addition at the 320.2 Level
-Substantial experience with networking hardware and protocols.
- Highly advanced knowledge of Apple, Windows, and/or Linux hardware and operating systems.
- Recognized expert with substantial experience in computer and network technologies.
Desired Qualifications
- Knowledge of scanning and mitigation requirements for computer operating systems.
- Familiarity with Department of Energy/National Nuclear Security Administration (DOE/NNSA) Orders and National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) documents relating to cyber security, perimeter defenses and computer security defense-in-depth strategies.

Pre-Employment Drug Test: External applicant(s) selected for this position will be required to pass a post-offer, pre-employment drug test. This includes testing for use of marijuana as Federal Law applies to us as a Federal Contractor.

Security Clearance: This position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level clearance.

If you are selected, wewill initiate a Federal background investigation to determine if youmeet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or matter. In addition, all L or Q cleared employees are subject to random drug testing. Q-level clearance requires U.S. citizenship. If you hold multiple citizenships (U.S. and another country), you may be required to renounce your non-U.S. citizenship before a DOE L or Q clearance will be processed/granted.

Note: This is a Career Indefinite position. Lab employees and external candidates may be considered for this position.
