NSA Overview
The professionals at the National Security Agency (NSA) have one common goal: to protect our nation. The mission requires a strong offense and a steadfast defense. The offense collects, processes and disseminates intelligence information derived from foreign signals for intelligence and counterintelligence purposes. The defense prevents adversaries from gaining access to sensitive classified national security information. The need to maintain our core Computer Science group is vital to provide the technical capabilities necessary to successfully execute NSA's mission.
Description of Position
Database Managers at the NSA design, develop, test, and deliver database systems. They manage life cycle support of database systems. Typical tasks include applying patches and upgrades, diagnosing and resolving problems, monitoring and improving performance. Database Managers at the NSA migrate data from legacy systems to modern systems and design and manage backup and recovery processes and continuity of operations plans.
Database Managers select appropriate database technologies for specific requirements, such as online transaction processing systems (OLTP), decision support systems (DSS), data warehouses, object-oriented or other non-relational data stores, real-time systems, and mass storage systems. They acquire data, coordinate data flow, and promote data quality.
