Digital Hardware/Embedded Systems Engineer (FPGA) (Experienced)

We are seeking an Electrical/Computer Engineer to be part of a team targeting digital-hardware and embedded systems. You will be working on the development of advanced command and control, communication, and data acquisition/processing systems to support a broad range of missions including survivable avionics and hypersonic vehicles, radars, GPS-denied and various other national security efforts and R&D initiatives.

You will work alongside world-class authorities and emerging leaders utilizing your skills in any of the following:

+ Architecting, implementing, and deploying embedded systems.
+ Component/system electrical design (hardware, firmware, and software).
+ Algorithm development and testing.
+ Modeling, simulation, and visualization of electrical systems and phenomena.
+ Real-time data capture, processing, and analytics.
+ Verification & validation techniques.


+ Advanced degree (Masters or PhD) in computer science, computer engineering, or electrical engineering, with at least 1 year of relevant experience; or a Bachelor's degree, as stated above, with at least 5 years of relevant experience.
+ Your background includes demonstrated firmware development experience utilizing VHDL or Verilog.
+ Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance.


Ideally, we would like to see your background include some of the following:

+ Experience with schematic capture tools such as Mentor Graphics, DxDesigner or PADS.
+ Familiarity with PCB layout for high speed circuits.
+ Experience with embedded processors and co-design.
+ Experience in taking a design from the concept phase through to the prototype and testing phase.
+ Experience with laboratory instrumentation and automation including instrument control and high-speed data acquisition at multi-gigabit data rates.
+ Experience designing and/or interfacing to analog electronic designs.
+ Excellent teaming and communication skills.
+ Experience in communication applications and digital signal processing.
+ Demonstrated ability to work independently, with minimal supervision, as well as work well in a multi-disciplinary team environment, building consensus and resolving issues.
+ Active DOE Q-level clearance.

Department Description:

Organization 5337, The Trusted & Secure Systems department focuses on the development of secure and aware command, control, and communications functions for terrestrial, airborne, and space based systems that are critical for national security applications. Representative system components include those necessary for protection of high value assets, various point-to-point, static and dynamic C2 architectures, and situational analyses requiring compact operating systems and processing. The development and integration of resilience, confidentiality, integrity, and availability is necessary for high reliability systems critical for national security missions.
