Job Description

Georgia Tech Research Institute's Sensors and Electromagnetic Applications Laboratory (SEAL) currently seeks a student to join our Sensor Systems Engineering Division starting spring 2021. The Student will assist Research Engineers in various system engineering tasks. The student should be interested in learning about Digital Signal Processing design and simulation, RF, Analog, and Digital design and development, system engineering, electronic systems integration, and testing.

Due to the nature of the work at GTRI, job duties will depend upon contract and sponsor needs. Students could participate in the following projects/tasks:
Digital signal processing design and simulation with MATLAB
Digital system implementation with VHDL and FPGA hardware
Testing and characterization of Digital, Analog , and RF and components and systems
Developing and executing automated test scripts in NI LabVIEW
Analyzing measured test data
Assembling and wiring custom modules and chassis
Generating schematics and PCB layout
Developing C/C++ code

Required Minimum Qualifications

Student Assistant/Research Assistant

Pursuing a Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering
Must be registered for at least 6 credit hours with your university during working semesters
Must have a 3.0 or higher GPA

Preferred Qualifications

Good written and verbal communications skills
Familiarity with office applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Ability to quickly learn new software applications and tools
Knowledge of DSP fundamentals
Experience with MATLAB
Experience with Xilinx FPGA and Vivado design tools
Knowledge of RF, Analog, and Digital circuit design & analysis.
Experience with various lab instrumentation including: Network Analyzer, Spectrum Analyzer, Signal Generator, Oscilloscope, or Multi-meter
Familiarity with the following software: Altium, Keysight ADS, SolidWorks, NI LabVIEW
Knowledge of PCB schematic capture, layout, and fabrication process

Due to our research contracts with the US federal government, candidates for this position are required to be US Citizens.

Clearance Type Required

Ability to obtain Secret Clearance upon hire
