The intern / fellow for communications and external affairs will support the Office of the President with projects and assignments related to communications and external affairs throughout the GCO Board Office.


The intern / fellow will support the VP of Communications and Public Policy, as well as the Manager of Communications and External Affairs with tasks and projects related to:

  • Writing / editing blog posts, op-eds, and other related communications materials
  • Supporting key business processes within the Board Office
  • Planning and Coordination of internal / external events and speaking engagements
  • Extensive Research and Analysis to support principals and staff
  • Social Media Content & Strategy
  • Assisting in the development of reports, deliverables, and presentations
  • Monitoring media and compiling news analysis as needed
  • Other projects as assigned


The following skills and competencies are required / preferred:

  • Excellent interpersonal and verbal/non-verbal communications skills, including writing and research skills.
  • Strong organization, attention to detail, multitasking, and time management skills.
  • Possesses strong organizational and proofreading skills
  • Works well in an energetic and collaborative environment.
  • Positive “can do” attitude and comfortable with meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.


  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree completed or in progress from an accredited institution, preferably with 2-3 years of prior experience in a professional or consulting environment.


  • Holds a high level of proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
  • Demonstrates strong research skills
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills
  • Self-motivated and team oriented
  • Working knowledge of technology, innovation, and software issues.
