Electric Utility Distribution Designer

Position Summary
An opportunity exists at Cordoba for a Distribution Designer in the Cordoba San Diego Office. The Distribution Ocalc Pro Designer is responsible for reviewing and modifying Ocalc Pro models completed on overhead electric distribution lines for conformance to client requirements, applicable codes, and project processes and procedures as well as reviewing for constructability and technical accuracy. The ideal candidate is experienced in performing pole loading calculations in Ocalc Pro.

Duties and Responsibilities
Work with design team at Cordoba to review and modify overhead Ocalc Pro models
Deliverables included in review can include but are not limited to: construction drawings, LiDAR data, fielding photos, pole detail reports and intrusive inspection data
Review design deliverables for consistency with design deliverables
Provide clear and concise comments and justifications where design deficiencies are observed
Review revised designs for incorporation of comments
Identify trends or new issues and raise them for management review along with potential solutions
Ensure and maintain compliance with applicable company and client standards and procedures
Attend meetings with clients, vendors and governing agencies as required
Contribute to the development and implementation of department and company goals
Participate in special projects or tasks as required
This position will be stationed in Cordoba’s San Diego office. Remote candidates may be considered dependent upon qualifications


Knowledge and Critical Skills/Expertise
Required:

Knowledge of overhead electric utility distribution design and the use of Ocalc Pro
Strong written and verbal English language communication skills
Ability to work effectively as part of a team and/or independently. Must be adaptable and flexible
Proficiency utilizing knowledge and skills with MS Office Suite (including MS-Word, MS-Excel, MS-Outlook) and computer applications
Legal authorization to work in the U.S.A. on a full-time basis without sponsorship.
Ability to pass a pre-authorized physical including a drug-screening and background check
High level of personal integrity with a strong work ethic

Preferred:

Knowledge of detailed material and labor requirements for construction of overhead electric utility distribution pole replacement projects
Education
High school diploma required. Post-secondary education preferred.
Experience
Required:

3+ years overhead electric utility distribution line design using Ocalc Pro to perform load calculations
Preferred:

3+ years overhead utility distribution line design experience including applicable codes.
Experience with construction of overhead distribution lines
Experience with CPUC GO-95
Experience with California utilities distribution line design
