What Your Job Will Be Like:

Our department is seeking an electrical engineer (job code Electronics Engineer) to lead an important R&D project to advance a critical technology needed for surety applications. Qualified engineers will be asked to employ state-of-the-art technology to research and develop a solution to a challenging set of functional, reliability and power requirements. Skills important to this position include embedded-system design skills with experience in FPGA and/or microcontroller design, analog- and digital-circuit design and optionally RF communications, DSP, or power supply design. Qualified applicants should have demonstrated capability to lead a multi-disciplinary team including researchers, designers and technologist. This position will be physcially located in Sandia NM although the department is organizationally in the Sandia CA 8000 center. Most of the work will be in done in the NM location although regular travel to CA will be desired.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

+ Create the system design

+ Implement design methodology

+ Build the prototype

+ Ground-test the system

+ Support the actual full-up system test

+ Lead teams in meetings and planning

+ Work with managements with strategy and update

+ Provide briefing to customers and program managers

Qualifications We Require:

+ Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or relevant STEM discipline completed prior to start date, or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience

+ Equivalent experience in lieu of degrees must be engineering or scientific experience that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform independent research and development.

+ Experience in digital or analog design or sensor system development

+ Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q level clearance

Qualifications We Desire:

+ Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or relevant STEM discipline

+ Basic understanding of digital signal processing

+ Experience with simulation and verification tools

+ Familiarity with RF system design and tools

+ Experience with PCB design

+ Experience working with vendors on electronic system component and PWA procurement

+ Experience leading multi-disciplinary team

+ Ability to analyze complex engineering and scientific problems

+ Experience with analytical tools such as MATLAB and HFSS

+ Experience presenting to customers and program managers

+ Ability to travel

Department 8428 designs, tests, and deploys advanced electronic systems for various national security applications. Security Clearance:
