Crestron Electronics has an exciting opportunity for an Electrical Engineer in our Quality Assurance Engineering team in our Orangeburg, NY facility.  This is a great opportunity to join a new and dynamic team in a fast-growing organization.  We are seeking a proactive engineer to support the activities of Crestron’s reliability test lab.  In this role, you will work in a firm that cultivates a close-knit and collaborative corporate culture.  You will work cross-functionally with several different teams, including but not limited to Design Engineering, Production Engineering, Supplier Quality, and Procurement, in order to support reliability testing of new products and assist with risk assessment/evaluation of field reliability issues.  You will also learn to understand the details of Crestron products so that you can define reliability test plans and requirements for our products from an electrical standpoint.  This position will draw on expertise with both digital and analog circuity. 

The responsibilities of the Electrical Engineer include, but are not limited to:

  • Support the development of product reliability test plans from an Electrical Engineering standpoint by identifying methods, requirements, and equipment for existing and new electrical-based tests. This includes individual electrical tests, as well as tests for electrical functionality during and/or after mechanical tests (drop, thermal, vibration, mechanism cycling, etc.).
  • Assist with evaluating units that fail a reliability test to identify any possible electrical failure
  • Take point on developing test plans for power supply and cable products
  • Assist the team with expanding their capabilities in several areas including, but not limited to, PCB component heat dissipation evaluation for reliability, testing displays & touch screens, and testing speaker products.
  • Be a point of leadership and escalation for difficult to solve technical issues with electronic devices
  • Introduce new tools and techniques for technical analysis
  • Work with outside laboratories to perform testing on products, parts, and components
  • Provide technical and engineering guidance to other members of the QAE team


The candidate must meet the following requirements:

  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering or equivalent Bachelor of Science Degree; M.S. not required but is a plus
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Electronics Design, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, working with electronic assemblies. Experience with Electromechanical Design is a plus, but not required.
  • Expertise with a wide variety of electronic troubleshooting tools, equipment and techniques
  • Knowledge of a programming and/or scripting language and basic programming concepts preferred but not required
  • Knowledge of quality assurance tools and practices preferred but not required
  • Experience with using Mentor tools for evaluation of schematics/PCBs and performing simulations
  • PCB assembly knowledge, and knowledge of electro-mechanical assembly is a plus
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office products (Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Word, etc.)
  • Knowledge of SAP or equivalent ERP systems is a benefit.
  • Must possess excellent problem resolution, judgment, and decision-making abilities.
  • Must be a high-energy, hands-on individual that is self-confident in his/her technical abilities. Must be very detail-oriented and thorough in performing tasks.
  • Must be able to demonstrate exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a dynamic, cross-functional team environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple project workloads and meet deadlines on time
  • Must be a self-starter and have a drive to learn new skills, practice continuous improvement, and influence positive change into processes within the company
  • Language: Fluent in American English.  Fluency in Spanish is a plus.
  • Travel: Limited travel may be required - day travel and overnight travel international and within the USA.
