Mount Vernon Nazarene University is seeking a full-time (nine-month) Electrical Engineering Faculty Member, beginning in the Fall semester of 2020. Rank is commensurate with experience. Compensation is to be competitive among the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities.

Responsibilities and expectations for this position include:

  • Teaching a broad range of undergraduate engineering courses required for the Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering program. Teaching assignments are expected to be in courses related to general engineering with concentrations in electrical engineering. Teaching of other related courses may be required.
  • Advising of students majoring in Engineering and ensuring that their academic progress meets requirements set by the institution, working with students to encourage professional development, and working with upper level students on their senior capstone design projects.
  • Supporting departmental efforts for continued improvement of programs.
  • Serving the University through committee participation and other assigned tasks.

Requirements

Qualifications for the successful candidate:

  • Evangelical Christian confession of faith and experience is required; member of the Church of the Nazarene is preferred.
  • A graduate degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field is required.
  • Candidates with PE certification and industry experience are particularly desirable.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with experience in embedded systems, microprocessors, and microcontrollers.
  • A strong commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching in a liberal arts setting and a commitment to scholarship of continued professional development, and a demonstrable track record in successful teaching.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to work well with others, especially to work alongside students and colleagues.
