Electromechanical Technologist (Experienced)

Albuquerque, NM

We are seeking a Electromechanical Technologist to join a dynamic team working in the field of Advanced Nuclear Concepts\.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

+ Work with a team of Technologists in the design, development, construction, and operation of high temperature and high pressure equipment intended to convert heat into electricity\.


+ High School Diploma plus three or more years of directly related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience;

+ Knowledge of electronics, mechanics, and automation of controls;

+ Knowledge of and experience with electronics design, computer interface, installation, testing, repair and maintenance;

+ Ability to conceptualize and communicate major elements of electrical design, engineering, or maintenance;

+ Ability to conceptualize appropriate or novel diagnostics required to obtain data and knowledge of the system;

+ Knowledge of the use, distribution, and potential variances and hazards of electrical current;

+ Experience and demonstrated skill in conducting research, investigating alternative solutions, and recommending solutions on problems affecting electronic systems or equipment;

+ Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE L\-level security clearance\.


+ Bachelor's in Electronic Engineering Technology;

+ Experience in Robotics and Automated Controls;

+ Experience with mechanical sensors \(shock and vibration\);

+ Experience with thermal sensors \(TC and RTD\);

+ Experience in Analog and Digital Design;

+ Experience in Programming \(C\), MATLAB, Circuit Analysis;

+ Leadership skills for productive time sensitive environments with multi\-skiled Teams\.

Department Description:

The Advanced Nuclear Concepts Department is responsible for the development of advanced nuclear reactors and associated energy conversion technologies\. Additionally, the Department provides experimental and analysis services in Radiation Effects Science\. The deparment currently has programs in advanced nuclear energy conversion applications for commercial and space nuclear power sytems\. The department is supporting a DOE research program supporting experiments and analysis on the effects of energetic neutron and gamma radiation on components and systems\.

Security Clearance:

Position requires a Department of Energy \(DOE\)\-granted L\-level security clearance\.

Sandia is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre\-employment drug testing, and a pre\-employment background review that includes personal reference checks, law enforcement record and credit checks, and employment and education verifications\.
