What Your Job Will Be Like:

We are seeking an experienced R&D Electronics Technologist to join our multidisciplinary team of engineers in designing, fabricating and testing custom embedded systems and supporting test equipment.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

+ Populate printed circuit boards (PCBs).

+ Rework printed wiring assemblies.

+ Complete tests for PCB board checkout and document results.

+ Diagnose PCBs down to component level.

+ Integrate boards into the broader assemblies.

+ Participate in design reviews.

+ Perform environmental characterization testing and support associated field tests.

+ Build and test cables.

+ Fabricate and build circuit board housings.

Qualifications We Require:

+ Associates degree in relevant field or;

+ HS diploma plus four (4) years’ of directly related experience

+ Hands-on soldering experience

+ Ability to acquire an maintain a DOE Q clearance

+ Ability to acquire and maintain an SCI clearance, which may require a polygraph

Qualifications We Desire:

+ Bachelor’s degree in an engineering or science-related field

+ PCB layout software (Mentor DxDesigner/Xpedition, Altium Designer, EAGLE)

+ Experience documenting test results and reports

+ Experience with:

+ schematic capture

+ MCAD (e.g. AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Creo)

+ RF circuit and RF diagnostic tools

+ high voltage circuit testing

+ writing safety procedures (PHS)

+ IPC-J-STD-001 Certification, IPC-A-610 Certification, and IPC-RR-7711/7721 Certification

+ IPC-A-610 Class 3 Solder Certification

+ Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills

Security Clearance:

Sandia is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. Applicants for employment need to be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance and SCI access, both of which require US citizenship. SCI access may also require a polygraph examination. If you hold more than one citizenship (i.e., of the U.S. and another country), your ability to obtain these levels of access may be impacted.
