Job Description

The Electronic Systems Laboratory (ELSYS) System Engineering Division (SEN) is currently seeking an Embedded Software Developer for a Research Faculty position in the Advanced Human Integration Branch (AHIB). We are looking for a creative software developer with a background in embedded (micro-controller) development. The desired candidate must be a solid communicator who can work within a dynamic team environment to support design and development of complex systems. The candidate will develop software ranging from external IC drivers to high-level system operation.

RESPONSIBLITIES INCLUDE

• Development of embedded software applications
• Development of low-level IC drivers
• Defining high-level software architectures for embedded devices

Education & Length of Experience

Research Engineer/Scientist/Technologist I

• A Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Computer, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or related field

Research Engineer/Scientist/Technologist II

• A Master’s degree in Aerospace, Computer, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or related field and three (3) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree; or
• A Master’s degree and five (5) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelor’s degree; or
• A Doctoral degree in Aerospace, Computer, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or related field

Required Minimum Qualifications

• Expertise in C/C++ embedded-software development
• Experience working as part of a team on large and complex development efforts
• Experience developing algorithms using object-oriented design techniques

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience developing software architecture designs for new applications
• Experience with Android operating system or other mobile applications development
• Familiarity with Agile software development processes
• Experience with Java development
• Understanding of hardware/circuit design

U.S. Citizenship Requirements

Due to our research contracts with the US federal government, candidates for this position are required to be US Citizens.

Clearance Type Required

Ability to obtain Secret Clearance upon hire
