Job Description

The candidate will provide embedded software engineering for ongoing sponsored programs where GTRI is accomplishing modernization and sustainment efforts for the US Department of Defense in the area of electronic warfare (EW). The successful applicant will have knowledge of embedded applications, embedded software, C/C++/C#, and real-time operating systems. Responsibilities will include development, sustainment, testing, and documentation of embedded, real-time software deployed in airborne EW systems.

Education & Length of Experience

Research Engineer/Scientist I

  • A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Computer Science.

Research Engineer/Scientist II

  • A Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Computer Science and three (3) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree,
  • A Doctoral degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Computer Science.

Required Minimum Qualifications

Required competencies for this position include the following:

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or computer science
  • Experience with C/C++/C# programming languages
  • Experience in embedded applications
  • Experience in embedded software development and sustainment
  • Experience with Real-Time Operating Systems

Preferred Qualifications

  • Greater than two years' full-time work experience
  • Experience with VxWorks, Embedded Linux, and/or Free RTOS
  • Experience with Ada programming language
  • Experience with Atlassian Workflow
  • Ability to effectively work under pressure and time constraints
  • Ability to self-motivate and derive specific requirements from general tasking descriptions
  • Ability to assimilate and apply new job-related information in a timely manner

U.S. Citizenship Requirements

Due to our research contracts with the US federal government, candidates for this position are required to be US Citizens.

Clearance Type Required

Ability to obtain Secret Clearance upon hire
