Job Description

The Embedded Software (SW) Engineer in the Test Engineering Division (TEN) will develop embedded software applications for Electronic Warfare (EW), Avionics, and Radar Hardware-in-the-Loop (HITL) test systems. These systems provide high fidelity simulation and stimulation of real-time Electro-Optical/Infrared (EO/IR), Radio Frequency (RF), and Avionics environments for testing EW, Avionics and Radar systems that are used to protect aircraft from ground and airborne threats.

Job Duties

  • Design, develop and validate embedded software
  • Test and debug software modules and integrate with other modules
  • Support, develop, and improve interfaces with firmware and/or hardware (via Operating System (OS) or bare metal)
  • Integrate system components and support equipment in laboratory and field settings
  • Participate in technical meetings with GTRI and sponsor personnel, and support issue tracking and sprint planning
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Education & Length of Experience

Research Engineer/Scientist/Technologist I

  • A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related degree field.

Research Engineer/Scientist/Technologist II

  • A Masters degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related degree field and three (3) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree,
  • A Masters degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related degree field and five (5) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelors degree, or
  • A Doctoral degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related degree field.

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience with software development processes
  • Experience with version control and software development work-flows
  • Experience with microprocessors (ARM, Power PC, etc.)

Candidates currently enrolled in an accredited Bachelor's degree with a graduation date of May 2021 and skills relevant to this position will be considered.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with C, C++, and/or LabVIEW
  • Experience with Linux and Windows OS
  • Experience with different Internet Protocols (IP), input/output (I/O) interfaces, and hardware subsystems
  • Ability to design and solve real-time problems of system resources
  • Ability to analyze and optimize the efficiency, stability, and scalability of system resources

U.S. Citizenship Requirements

Due to our research contracts with the US federal government, candidates for this position are required to be US Citizens.

Clearance Type Required

Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain an active security clearance.
