The Assembly and Test Technology Development (ATTD) Materials Technology Development (MTD) Engineering Technician will perform activities focused on materials characterization, defect analysis, lab experimentation supporting assembly, test materials and supplier materials technology pathfinding and development in support of ATTD's packaging materials roadmap.
The candidate will conduct a wide range of lab and tool experimentation, be responsible for planning and execution of experiments, completing failure analysis utilizing a variety of tools, techniques and data analysis software to perform customer project requests and share the results with stakeholders and customers.

Responsibilities will
include:
- Assembly and Test materials characterization, assembly packaging materials defect analyses, material samples preparation, materials synthesis and DOE execution, assisting in identifying key mechanisms that contribute to root cause identification
- Conduct hands on lab work and experimentation to define materials structure-property-performance relationships, understand failure modes, and assist in recommending corrective actions and fixes to internal customers
- Materials Characterization to measure and report out critical materials properties
- Setting up lab equipment and tools as necessary, conducting basic lab tool maintenance as-needed
- Present data summaries and findings in MTD team meetings.
- Respond to customers' requests to perform lab and technician duties.
- Developing and applying technical understanding of assembly materials and manufacturing, exercising judgement in resolving non-standard technical problems
- Working closely with engineers and stakeholders in a collaborative environment
- Presenting key results and learnings in group meetings
Qualifications

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position.
Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum qualifications and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.
Minimum Qualifications
- Possess an associate's degree or Technical Certification or 6+ months of experience in a relevant STEM (Science or Technology or Engineering or Mathematics) field
- 6+ months of experience in a laboratory setting
Candidate must possess the degree by employment start date.
Preferred
Qualifications
- Possess an associate degree with emphasis on Chemistry, Materials Science.
6+ months prior experience with one or more of the following:
- Cross sectional and electron microscopy techniques such as mechanical polishing, SEM, EDX, FIB, etc..
- Materials characterization tools such as differential calorimetry (DSC), Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), Adhesion metrology, materials sample prep.
- Trouble-shooting lab level electrical, mechanical tools and equipment
- Windows computer operating systems and Windows software applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook).
