We are looking for an experienced Engineering and Operations General Technologist to perform a variety of facilities related functions including monitoring of building systems, managing Maximo requests for line customers, and act as interface between Facilities partners and building occupants. Maintain eyewash and shower inspections, ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) tests, and non-Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL) inspections for ~ 75 Research and Development labs. Maintain chemical stockroom and gas house to meet the needs of mission deliverables. Fill and deliver gas cylinders to lab owners as needed. Support line customers by performing reapplication submissions, organizing millwrights moves, and maintaining oversight to local machine shop. Perform the duties of Pressure Safety Advisor for the Center. Partner with ES&H Coordinator team to identify work hazards and improve safety practices.

Required:

+ You possess a high school diploma plus five or more years of directly related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
+ Your background includes experience with work hazards, safety practices, and relevant work planning and control requirements
+ You have experience in one or more of the following: facilities maintenance and operations, laboratory environments, building systems, chemical handling and storage, or ES&H
+ Able to obtain and maintain a DoE L clearance

Desired:

+ Experience as a qualified pressure safety advisor
+ Familiarity with basic machine shop tools
+ Forklift certified
+ Understanding of deionized water systems
+ Experience with the Facilities request system and the Chemical Inventory System (CIS)
+ Experience in working in partnership with Environment, Safety, and Health policy organizations such as Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Compliance and Monitoring, and Fire Safety
+ Ability to clearly communicate status of building outages, maintenance activities, status of work projects to building occupants
+ Ability to effectively work in a team environment and interact with all levels of internal and external personnel, including the ability to build and manage effective working relationships
+ Ability to organize, prioritize, and follow through to completion on multiple tasks

Department Description:

The 1800 Operations group provides operational support and safety expertise for the Materials, Physical, and Chemical Sciences Center. The 1802 team is comprised of staff dedicated to Center 1800s safety values as well as to the oversight of our facilities and operations. Both areas play an essential role in developing a culture of continuous safety awareness and improvement. Department 1802 is responsible for facilitating center-level strategic processes, establishing innovative safe-work practices to ensure mission demands are met, and supporting engineering and maintenance activities for the line. Members of this team lead the implementation of corporate initiatives and help foster successful communication between the line and management.
