Apple's Internet Software and Services organization is looking for dynamic project managers to help build and run services that hundreds of millions of customers use every day. Key Qualifications

  • Self starter with 5+ years previous experience as member of technical team responsible for production operability within a client/server internet application environment
  • Top-tier Project Manager with experience leading end-to-end lifecycles for IT programs in large scale global datacenter environments
  • Experienced setting up and handling agile process frameworks
  • Strong sense of ownership, customer service, and integrity proven through clear, concise communication and presentation
  • A problem solver with excellent social and diplomatic skills
  • Confirmed ability to automate tasks by writing programs or scripts using a languages or tools such as: Shell, C, Java, Ruby, Python or Perl
  • Understanding of standard networking protocols and components such as: HTTP, DNS, TCP/IP, ICMP, the OSI Model, Subnets and load balancing
  • Experience designing mobile or web applications with availability, scalability, latency and supportability in mind
  • Experience analyzing distributed systems in a development, QA or globally distributed production environment

Description

In this outcome-driven role, you will be leading efforts that increase the reliability and efficiency of iCloud services. Aligned with SRE as a project manager, you will be working closely with software development to understand technical requirements. You will partner with infrastructure and financial teams to ensure adequate compute, storage & network capacity for new and existing features. Implement process to enable efficiencies around change management, problem tracking, and SRE ticket backlog. You will confidently identify and eliminate project ambiguity, ensure clarity and clarify goals and timelines. By developing a broad perspective, you will identify new projects to champion and strategize how to pull in timelines, address obstacles and ensure communication with stakeholders. Over time you will build and maintain a detailed portfolio of complex technical projects that continually meet deadlines within constraints
- You are the communicator! Everyone on the project knows what is going on. Status is honestly and accurately communicated each week. You can speak to groups and present one-pagers, POCs and architectural overviews clearly and effectively.
- Show ownership and accountability to partners while you track progress to ensure projects arrive on time and under budget
- Use strategic thinking and judgement to identify inefficiencies related to core SRE program deliverables while you lead the building or adoption of automation tools to address.
- Take the lead during forecasting discussions to develop a detailed BOM that speaks to infrastructure requirements that can be relied on by finance and DC capacity partners teams.
- Influence service architecture direction, design and standards by establishing relationships with hardware engineering, software development and datacenter management.
- Be an independent self starter that knows how to be successful with limited guidance while you build collaborative trust across functions. You know when to make the call and when to let the conversation continue.
- Break down projects and responsibilities rationally while paying close attention to detail so you can apply the right process for the given requirements and team

Education & Experience

Bachelors degree in computer science, information systems, a related field or equivalent experience and Project Management Training.

PREFERRED
Masters degree in computer science, information systems, and Project Management Certification.
