Engineering Support Technologist (Early/Mid-Career)

We are seeking professionals to fill several technologist openings, who are needed to join a multi-functional team that supports various aspects of satellite product realization. Candidates would have a focus in one of three major areas but will be expected to be cross-trained and could shift to another focus. One area is managing the Manufacturing Execution System used to define and track all work for the GBD satellite program. Another is supporting Component Engineers in researching, testing, analyzing and selecting flight grade electronic components. The third focus is managing printed wiring assembly (PWA) procurements.

On any given day your duties may include the following, depending on the specific role:

+ Perform a variety of technical procedures and problem solving with minimal direction
+ Handle PWA procurements
+ Develop, build, modify, repair, or maintain a wide variety of laboratory apparatus and equipment, and interface this equipment for data acquisition
+ Ensuring execution of work flow through the product realization area
+ Perform work safely and in a compliant manner, seek out domain expert advice as needed, and maintain the necessary documentation
+ Wire and assemble custom electrical hardware which requires practical application of technical knowledge, ability to determine malfunctions, and skill to put equipment into operational condition.
+ Perform some basic assembly operations for prototype hardware such as; wire stripping, soldering, crimping, and component installations
+ Support Component Engineers researching/testing/analyzing/selecting flight-grade components

Required:

+ Associates degree in electrical engineering, or other related STEM discipline; or equivalent experience and education (BS degree; No Degree + 4 years)
+ Can obtain a DOE clearance

Desired:

+ Bachelor's degree in related discipline
+ Able to work in dynamic atmospheres with changing priorities
+ Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment with high initiative and collaboration
+ Working knowledge of Product Travelers and Action Requests
+ Familiarity with system requirements
+ Experience developing and maintaining product flows
+ Experience in compliance with safety rules, both internal and external
+ Experience reading and interpreting PWA drawings
+ Experience working in an AS9100 environment
+ Experience working with Oracle Manufacturing, PDMLink, FileNet
+ Training and experience in

- Electronic component failure analysis
- De-capsulation of electronic components
- Review of outsourced destructive physical analysis (DPA)
- Incoming electronic component screening
- Prohibited materials analysis using Fischerscope XRF
- Familiarity with MIL-STD-750, MILSTD-883, MIL-PRF-19500, IPC-A-600
+ Current DOE clearance

Department Description:

We have researched and developed new monitoring systems & technologies for over half a century. Building on that legacy, today we support national security missions involving nuclear proliferation detection, treaty monitoring, arms control, and various needs within the national security communities.

There is a need for R&D technologists within the Remote Sensing Systems Group (06780), which provides the technical capabilities that support mission deliveries for Monitoring Systems and Technology programs and other program areas across the Laboratories. This group performs full-lifecycle design, development, and realization of technologies and sensor systems to provide system solutions for our customers.
