Join a dynamic team that helps tackle some of the most challenging issues facing our nation’s security!

The Electromagnetics Systems Engineering and Qualification department is looking for experienced Engineering Support Technologists that are eager to work in these facilities to support nuclear weapon testing that are critical to the interests of national security!

On any given day, you may be called on to:

+ Supporting engineering staff by conducting experiments including instrumentation specification and set up, diagnostics, and laboratory equipment control for pulsed power, high voltage breakdown, and RF environments.

+ Operating, repairing, and improving Electromagnetic facilities such as the Electromagnetic Laboratory featuring the world's largest GTEM (Gigaherz Transverse Electromagnetic) environment facility, the 4m RF Reverberation chamber and the Anechoic RF Chamber. Other facility you might support are the Sandia Lightning Simulator (200kA Severe Lightning) and the Electromagnetic Environment Simulator (EMES) providing 250kV/m EMP pulse capabilities.

+ Detailed and accurate documentation supporting testing programs.

+ Perform preliminary data processing to verify quality testing data.

+ General laboratory stewardship such as; ES&H and security responsibilities, maintaining work-control documentation, managing property, coordinating instrument calibration and repair, and occasionally coordinating building-related activities with Facilities personnel.

+ Work in a dynamic small team environment and manage time according to work demands.

Qualifications We Require:

+ Associate of Science degree in technical field, preferably Electronics or Electrical Engineering, or military equivalent such as Navy ET “A” or “C”, or combination of equivalent education and experience

+ Two years’ experience working in a technical electronics field

+ Ability to obtain and maintain a Q clearance along with Sigma 15

Qualifications We Desire:

+ BS in Electrical Engineering particularly in Electromagnetics

+ Good oral and written communication skills

+ RF technology experience

+ High Frequency RF to 40GHz

+ Experience with electrical diagnostics such as electromagnetic field probes, antennas, current and voltage probes, attenuators, waveguides

+ Experience with high power amplifier maintenance/repair experience

+ Experience with automated test control systems such as Labview

+ Experience with preliminary data processing and analysis, proficiency with Matlab

The EM Systems Engineering & Qualification Department (Organization 01354) is responsible for defining and managing deliverables for the weapon systems electromagnetic qualification programs as well as development of new programs. The department works closely with Organizations 1352 (EM Theory), 1353 (Electrical Sciences and Experiments), Group 1340 (Radiation Effects Sciences & Applications) and collaborates with Centers 2000, 5000, and 8000.

Security Clearance:
