Job Description

Intel's Ethernet Products Group (EPG) Ethernet Technology Applications team under the Network and Edge Group (NEX) is looking for a Network SW Validation Engineer to perform solution-level end-to-end validation and performance testing of Intel's server class wired Ethernet products in datacenter use cases.

As a Network SW Validation Engineer, you will work closely with Applications Engineers and Solution architects to validate, debug, and tune a combination of microbenchmarks and real world use cases such as network attached storage, microservices, and High Performance Computing for advanced Ethernet technologies. Your primary duties would include creating validation test plans and associated methodologies, performing, automating, and documenting testing; analyzing and debugging test results; and presenting data to stakeholders. In the course of this work, it is also encouraged that the candidate would assess the state of the art and employ new methods to improve quality and product efficiency. Complex system-level issue debug, problem solving, multi-tasking, organization, and stakeholder management skills are critical to success.

Minimum Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, Math, Physics, or related field
  • 6+ months of direct related experience in the following areas obtained through a combination of relevant work experience, internship experiences and/or schoolwork/classes/research
    • Experience in validation or development or support of software, kernel drivers and/or networking applications. Linux/Open Source operating systems (RHEL, SuSE, FreeBSD, Ubuntu, etc.) strongly preferred, though advanced VMware ESXi Server or Windows Server experience could also be applicable
    • Experience with scripting languages like Python, Bash, etc.
    • Experience with Linux operating system administration
    • Experience with software testing and test methodology and/or performance testing

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with networking product interoperability testing and performance testing
  • Experience with system level server network debug, involving hardware, software, and/or firmware
  • Experience with current computer networking architecture, protocols, topologies, and networking products (such as Ethernet, Infiniband, or equivalent)
  • Experience with performance analysis of Linux networking, storage and network applications, including the impact of networking components on CPU/memory subsystems
  • System admin or Network admin-level experience with one or more of the following:
    • Experience processing and visualizing large sets of data through Excel or other means
    • Network attached storage (NAS) target/client configuration and testing, ex: NVMeoF, iSCSI, iSER, NFS, etc.
    • Cluster configuration and testing for MPI/HPC applications
    • Highly scaled datacenter workloads (ex: databases, load balancers, web servers), including server, networking, and storage infrastructure configuration
    • RDMA (iWARP, RoCEv2, InfiniBand (IB)) network protocols/configurations
