EW and Avionic Systems Test Engineer -- ELSYS
Job Description
The EW and Radar Systems Test Engineer in the Test Engineering Division (TEN) will perform System Engineering and Test research for Electronic Warfare (EW) and Avionics Hardware-in-the-Loop (HITL) test systems. These systems provide high fidelity simulation and stimulation of real-time Electro-Optical/Infrared (EO/IR), Radio Frequency (RF), and Avionics environments for testing EW and Avionics systems. These systems protect aircraft from ground and airborne threats.
Job Duties:
- Develop a detailed understanding of how to properly document test cases and create effective and focused testing plans
- Verify EW and Radar test system meets all system test requirements
- Design Electronic and Mechanical Hardware for EW HITL Systems
- Develop and Analyze EW HITL Systems
- Work closely with development and modeling teams to ensure test suitability
- Review detailed documentation and generate test cases for specific requirements
- Perform other duties as assigned

Education & Length of Experience
Research Engineer/Scientist I
- A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related degree field.
Research Engineer/Scientist II
- A Masters degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related degree field and three (3) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree,
- A Masters degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related degree field and five (5) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelors degree, or
- A Doctoral degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related degree field.
Required Minimum Qualifications
- Experience with prototyping newly designed hardware and/or software system (experience can include senior design project, internship, student employment)
- Experience troubleshooting and debugging hardware and software systems
- Experience with drawing software packages such as AutoCAD or Solidworks
Candidates currently enrolled in an accredited Bachelor's degree with a graduation date of May 2021 and skills relevant to this position will be considered
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience and knowledge of EW and Avionics Systems architectures
- Experience with architectures, functions, and interfaces for EW and avionics systems
- Experience with creating and performing hardware and/or software test cases
- Hardware and software laboratory experience
- Experience in quality assurance and testing or software development
U.S. Citizenship Requirements
Due to our research contracts with the US federal government, candidates for this position are required to be US Citizens.
Clearance Type Required
Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain an active security clearance.
