Job Description

The Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI) in Atlanta, GA is seeking an experienced Electronic Warfare (EW) Researcher to lead a research thrust in next generation EW Test systems. This individual will help to develop a vision, strategy and sponsored customer base for next generation EW Hardware in the loop (HITL) test environments. The HITL environments may incorporate open, scalable test architectures, use NEWEG and future generation RF threat generation, closed loop Electronic Attack (EA) test capability, highly automated test suites and interconnect to federated/distributed test environments (federated models, LVC, JMETC, TENA, etc). Job responsibilities will also include development of EW test concepts, management of EW Test programs and related systems engineering tasks, including requirements development, allocation to design and testing, and systems engineering.

This opportunity is with our Electronic Systems Lab Atlanta, GA.
 
Core competencies for this position:
  • Solid understanding of HITL test equipment requirements, design and usage
  • Understanding, experience with distributed test environments
  • Solid understanding of common interface protocols such as MIL-STD-1553, Ethernet, etc.
  • Solid understanding of EW Principles
  • Project management skills with strong planning, organizing and teaming abilities

Education & Length of Experience

Senior Research Engineer/Scientist

  • A Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Physics or Math and seven (7) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree,
  • A Doctoral degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Physics or Math and four (4) years of relevant full time experience.

Principal Research Engineer/Scientist

  • A Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Physics or Math and eleven (11) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree,
  • A Doctoral degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Physics or Math and seven (7) years of relevant full-time experience.

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • Must have a Master’s or Ph.D. degree with 5-10 years or more of relevant experience
  • US Citizenship
  • DoD Secret clearance or ability to obtain a clearance within six months after your employment with Georgia Tech Research Institute begins is required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Works well individually or in a group setting
  • Ability to effectively work under pressure and time constraints
  • Proven ability to prepare presentations and effectively deliver information to various audiences
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to self-motivate and derive specific requirements from general tasking descriptions 
  • Can make decisions and perform assigned tasks without direct supervision

U.S. Citizenship Requirements

Due to our research contracts with the US federal government, candidates for this position are required to be US Citizens.

Clearance Type Required

Ability to obtain Secret Clearance upon hire
