Job Description

Intel XPU Hardware Architecture team is looking for passionate and experienced individual to help develop the the next generation of highly efficient XPU/GPU architectures for Intel. This individual will be a member of the small architecture team that works with larger teams of 3D, Compute and Machine learning performance architects, hardware design engineers and compiler engineers to build new XPU/GPU products.

The role of the Execution Unit Architect is to evolve the XPU shader pipeline to run 3D and HPC workloads with the best-in-class features, performance, and power efficiency. The products will scale from mobile PC to high-end HPC servers.

You will help us with the following responsibilities:

  • Work with a team to define, implement, and validate high-level functional and performance models for XPU/GPU Shader pipeline, execution unit, load-store and memory and cache pipelines
  • Enable 3d, HPC and Machine Learning workloads on architecture simulators to enable the study of the best-in-class features for performance and power
  • Support SW and HW teams for performance and power Attainment during pre-silicon and post-silicon execution

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications are required to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates. Requirements listed would be obtained through a combination of industry relevant job experience, internship experiences and or schoolwork/classes/research.

Minimum skills and experience required for the job:
Bachelor degree Computer Science, Computer/Electrical Engineer, Mathematics or related filed with 3+ years of industry experience. OR a Master's in the same fields,. OR a PhD in the same fields:

Your experience should be in the following:

  • Programming Skills in C/C++ AND standard version control tools like (Git OR perforce)
  • Experience in programming of GPU using assembler or high-level shader language.

Preferred skills and experience:

  • Unix or Windows software development
  • Scripting language like Python and other high productive programming language like Go
  • Logical design and modeling language like SystemC, Verilog or SystemVerilog .3D workload performance on modern GPU (mobile or discrete)
  • Graphics and GPGPU programming API's (OpenCL, DX, Vulkan, etc.)
  • GPU high performance kernel optimization for machine learning and raytracing.
  • Design or Validation of Complex GPU features Across multiple cluster units.
  • Floating point design and algorithm, numerical error analysis
  • SIMD architecture and micro-architecture

This role will be eligible for our hybrid work model which allows employees to split their time between working on-site at their assigned Intel site and off-site.
