Facilities Strategic Planner (Early/Mid-Career)

Albuquerque, NM

We are seeking a qualified Facilities Strategic Planner to join our high\-energy team\. You will articulate facility requirements to fulfill both customer and corporate needs\. You will work closely with other Facilities Strategic Planners, Facilities Area Management teams, and a wide variety of scientific and engineering organizations to define project development objectives, justification, stakeholder requirements, project scope, schedule targets, and budget range\. Your main focus will be on project development\.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

+ Be responsible for planning phase activity to incorporate site stewardship objectives\.
+ Collaborate with various subject matter experts with scientific, engineering, and facilities backgrounds to develop planning studies, and will work with corporate and National Nuclear Security Administration \(NNSA\) data bases to communicate facility and infrastructure needs\.
+ Develop project charters to define scope, schedule, and budget, to address a facility needs, and describe justification to support Sandias mission objectives\.
+ Articulate how project development fits into big picture campus and site\-wide long\-range site planning initiatives, and short\- and mid\-range implementation plans\.
+ Provide information to feed into corporate and NNSA data bases and data sources used to manage facility assets\.
+ Lead planning teams, and monitor quality of work for development of planning phase deliverables\.
+ Coordinate with capital investment program management leads\.
+ Prepare summary reports, presentations, and obtain approval for project development planss


+ Bachelors degree in Architecture, Urban/Regional Planning, Engineering, Project Management, or related field\.
+ 5 years of experience in facility programming and project development for science, engineering, or technical facility projects\.
+ Ability to obtain a professional accreditation in Architecture, Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design \(LEED\), Project Management, Engineering, or Urban/Regional Planning within one year\.


+ Self\-motivated and teaming design professional with good communications skills in coordinating activities with others\.
+ Strong communication and presentation skills with ability to adapt message to collaborate with a broad range of management and staff\.
+ Ability to lead teams with minimal guidance, and experience exercising latitude to develop objectives and how to carry out assignments\.
+ Accreditation from AIA or AICP\.
+ Active DOE or DOD security clearance\.

Department Description:

The Site Planning and Partnerships Department consists of three major parts\. The Planning team engages in long\-term, comprehensive planning for sites within the context of their surrounding communities for development and redevelopment to meet mission, balanced with the responsibility for stewardship of federally\-owned assets on behalf of the DOE/NNSA\. Project Development oversees projects from a conceptual idea through scoping and validation to a funded project\. The Partnership Strategic Planners are aligned with major technical divisions to understand customer needs to plan for mid\- and long\-range facility and infrastructure investment needs\. We are also responsible for managing, planning, tracking, and reporting department also plans, tracks, and reports the progress of the Corporate Investment Plan at the funding program level\.

Security Clearance:

Position requires a Department of Energy \(DOE\) granted Q\-level security clearance\.

Sandia is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre\-employment drug testing, and a pre\-employment background review that includes personal reference checks, law enforcement record and credit checks, and employment and education verifications\.
