The George W. Woodruff School of Mechanical Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, Georgia, invites nominations and applications for several tenure-track faculty positions at the levels of Assistant, Associate, and Full Professor. Applications will be entertained in any of the School’s research areas while an emphasis will be placed on the following topics:

Area 1: High-Temperature, Extreme Environment Materials Processing and EngineeringIncluding materials development, fluid and thermal sciences, advanced manufacturing, and reliability.

Area 2: Model-Based Systems Engineering. Including energy systems, transportation, electrification, manufacturing and design.

Area 3: Application of Artificial Intelligence and Data Science to Mechanical Engineering Systems. Including bioengineering, materials development, design, manufacturing energy systems, thermal sciences, fluid dynamics, mechanics, structural dynamics and robotics.

Area 4: Urban Mobility and Human-Machine Interface. Including electric and hybrid vehicles, aerospace systems, power electronics, batteries, flexible and wearable electronics, advanced sensor technologies.

Area 5: Nuclear Instrumentation and Analytical Methods. Including nuclear forensics, nuclear non-proliferation, industrial applications, and medicine.

Requirements

Successful candidates will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses; supervise graduate students; interact collaboratively with faculty in teaching, research, and service; and develop a strong, independent, externally funded research program.

An ideal faculty candidate will possess a Ph.D. in one of the following disciplines: mechanical engineering, mechanics, fluid and thermal sciences, nuclear engineering or related discipline and at least 2 years of experience. Those applying for Associate and Full Professor positions should have established records in research that demonstrates nationally and internationally recognized expertise.
