We're looking for a Firmware Development Engineer. In this role, you'll be responsible for: developing multiple aspects of firmware development, firmware validation (including test development), and Pre-Silicon simulation environment development. This role involves working with various partners to enhance and improve graphics functionality, stability, and performance on upcoming integrated and discrete graphics devices. The ideal candidate will approach development opportunities from a validation mindset; having a passion for understanding all of the aspects of system design and proactively thinking about how to break the system as a means for coming up with solid stable designs. The candidate will also be expected to provide internal and external feedback to teams on ways to improve our GPU hardware, software, and development processes in order to help Intel achieve its goal of becoming the world's leader in GPU technology.
This role is eligible for 100% remote work, however, may require travel up to 12 times/year.
This role is also eligible for our hybrid work model from either Folsom, Santa Clara, Austin, Redmond, or Toronto, with a lower travel expectation.
Qualifications
You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.
Minimum Qualifications
You must possess at least a Bachelor's degree with 5+ years of relevant experience, a Master's degree with 4+ years of relevant experience, or PhD with 1+ years of relevant work experience in Computer Science or Computer Engineering.
Experience should be demonstrated in the following areas:
At least 2 or more years in:
Technical leadership, with a focus on software design and/or code ownership
Operating System architecture, Embedded System architecture, GPU Architecture, Kernel mode/low level programming, and Firmware development
C/C++, ISA/assembly programming language
At least 4 years of experience on Graphics Kernel-mode drivers, GPU Firmware, or SoC Firmware.

Qualifications:
Passionate about programming and solving complex problems
A desire to understand and influence areas outside of their primary domain which has an impact on the quality of the Firmware we deliver
A desire to understand of the full GPU stack (Hardware and Software), and able to use that knowledge to influence technical decisions for Firmware
Strong understanding of the design and maintenance of clean interfaces
Ability to understand requirements and work with limited supervision to complete assigned tasks

Work Model for this Role
This role is available as fully home-based and generally would require you to attend Intel sites only occasionally based on business need.
