As an integral part of Intel's new IDM2.0 strategy, we are establishing Intel Foundry Services (IFS), a fully vertical, standalone foundry business, reporting directly to the CEO. IFS will be a world-class foundry business and a major provider of the US and European-based capacity to serve customers globally. Intel Foundry Services will be differentiated from other Foundry offerings with a combination of leading-edge packaging and process technology, committed capacity in the US and Europe - available for customers globally - and a world-class IP portfolio that customers can choose from including x86 cores, graphics, media, display, AI, interconnect, fabric and other critical foundational IP, along with ARM and RISC-V ecosystem IPs. IFS will also provide access to silicon design services to help our customers seamlessly turn silicon into solutions, using industry-standard design packages.
Responsibilities of a Firmware Engineer will include:
- Work on a scrum team with other engineers to develop and test software and firmware for embedded systems and solutions.
- Software, firmware, test, automation development primarily using Python and C/C++.
- Contribute to and review system and software/firmware architecture and requirements.
- Work with standards-defined interfaces (PCIe, CXL, serial protocols), safety and security standards, product requirements and architecture specifications.
- Debug of software and firmware systems using JTAG debugger, telemetry data, log dumps, crash data, etc.
- Manage development environment (containers, compiler toolchains, test frameworks, automation environment, tools)
- Optimize firmware and software for performance, power consumption, or other requirements.
- Work with real-time operating systems (RTOS), low-level (bare metal) firmware, Linux (device drivers, kernel, user applications).

Qualifications
You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates. Experience would be obtained through a combination of prior education level classes, and current level school classes, projects, research, and relevant previous job and/or internship experience.

Candidate should have a Bachelors of
Science degree or higher in Computer Engineering, Computer Science
or related fields and experience in the
following:
- Basic knowledge of firmware/software design, implementation and debugging.
- Capable of using C/C++ or Python to solve real world problems.
Preferred
Qualifications
Experience in the
following:
- Real-world software or firmware development/debug/validation experience.
- Experience with Python, C/C++.
- Experience with Linux development.
- Experience with embedded software development, debug or validation.
- Experience writing Unit or system level tests.
- Experience working with a team of engineers using Agile methodologies.

Work Model for this Role
This role will be eligible for our hybrid work model which allows employees to split their time between working on-site at their assigned Intel site and off-site.
