Flight Test Engineer (Experienced) -- ELSYS

Job Description

The Flight Test Engineer in the Air National Guard Air Force Reserve Command Test Center (AATC) operations section of the Air National Guard Program Office is an experienced position requiring test program leadership to include program management, test planning, test execution, data analysis, test and evaluation engineering, and systems engineering. As a flight test engineer, you will perform hardware, software, and systems testing for a mid-sized team of engineers executing ongoing sponsored programs.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE

  • Develop F-16, A-10 and C-130 modernization program requirements, acquisition strategy, test strategy, and sustainment strategy
  • Plan, provision, execute, analyze and report on a variety of test programs, from bench level to on-aircraft open-air range testing
  • Support other flight test engineers in the development of flight scenarios to efficiently and effectively collect data necessary to determine system performance under test and operation
  • Support sponsor programmatic reviews, planning meetings, concept development efforts, and technical interchange meetings
  • Develop flight test engineer training programs and support GTRI campus initiatives as required
  • Interpret flight test plans and user requirements, and translate testing requirements into a comprehensive data analysis plan
  • Maintain flight test data sets and merge them with qualitative data gathered during the test process
  • Develop technical papers for conferences, speak publicly and present briefings to sponsors and potential sponsors
  • Develop original and innovative contributions that are nationally recognized for their excellence as documented by external peer review
  • Provide leadership in developing and managing technical thrust involving related projects to flight test engineering
  • Participate in seminars and national symposia while maintaining memberships on national committees and/or offices in professional societies
  • Lead small to mid-sized projects and/or teams
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Education & Length of Experience

Senior Research Engineer/Scientist

  • A Bachelor's and Master's degree required, with one or both in Aerospace, Computer, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics or related field and seven (7) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree,
  • A Bachelor's and Master's degree required, with one or both in Aerospace, Computer, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics or related field and nine (9) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelor's degree, or
  • A Doctoral degree and Master's degree required, with one or both in Aerospace, Computer, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or related field, and four (4) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelor's degree.

Principal Research Engineer/Scientist

  • A Bachelor's and Master's degree required, with one or both in Aerospace, Computer, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or related field, and eleven (11) years of relevant full-time experience, or
  • A Doctoral degree and Master's degree required, with one or both in Aerospace, Computer, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or related field, and seven (7) years of relevant full-time experience.

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • Flight test control and conduct experience
  • Experience analyzing flight test data including numerical modeling, statistical computing and software script development
  • Experience developing technical reports, data packages, test plans, and safety analysis plans
  • Experience in one or more of the following: flight test planning, flight test data analysis, design of experiments, electronic warfare, radar and/or avionics systems

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in any of the following: test and evaluation of aerospace systems, sensor integration, signal processing, EO/IR sensors and/or knowledge of R.F. threat systems
  • Experience leading small to mid-sized projects and/or teams
  • Operational experience as an aircraft pilot, Electronic Warfare Officer (EWO), Weapons Systems Officer (WSO)
  • Graduate of United States Air Force Test Pilot School or Navy Test Pilot School
  • Experience in the development of Python scripts, MATLAB, or related mathematical based programming platforms

Due to our research contracts with the U.S. federal government, candidates for this position are required to be U.S. Citizens.
