Food Processing Technology Division Intern Summer 2021 - ATAS
Job Description
The Food Processing Technology Division seeks a mechanical engineering undergraduate Intern to aid the research team's characterization of coupled fluid mechanics and heat transfer physics during simulated food processing. Starting summer 2021
The Food Processing Technology Division seeks a mechanical engineering undergraduate research assistant. The work involves experimentation of an alternate chilling concept that could involve slurry or chilled water. The goal of this project is to aid in characterizing a novel approach to food processing via ice slurry and/or liquid water chiller media, as well as introducing added kinematics to standard batch processing approaches. The undergraduate research assistant will empirically and semi-empirically aid the research team's characterization of coupled fluid mechanics and heat transfer physics during simulated food processing. The project will combine both theoretical relationships alongside computational validation (Comsol CFD) and physical flow field experimentation given its applied research nature. The key to testing will be the design and investigation of alternative motion patterns with the intent to favorably manipulate thermal-fluidics to increase heat transfer.
