The Faculty of Engineering of the University of Freiburg invites applications for a

Full Professorship (W3) for Microelectronics (Successor of Prof. Manoli)

in the Department of Microsystems Engineering to be filled by April 1, 2020.

The professorship shall focus both in research and teaching on microelectronics and the design of integrated mixed signal circuits. Candidates must have an excellent track record in at least one and preferably a combination of the following research areas:

• Microelectronics and design of integrated circuits
• Ultra-Low-Power circuits for autonomous microsystems and information
• Ultra-low-power medical and implantable circuits
• Subthreshold and near-threshold circuits
• Digitally-assisted analog circuits
• Hardware-security circuits including PUFs, TRNGs, crypto-circuits
• Flexible, large-area, stretchable, and printable electronics, wearable electronics

Strong candidates follow a research strategy that includes well-founded basic research in combination with convincing application cases with reference to practical implementations in the domains sensors, embedded systems, internet-of-things, intelligent implants or telecommunication engineering (5G, GPS, Gallileo).

The university expects interest in the collaboration with other professorships at the department. Cooperation with the cluster of excellence “BrainLinks-BrainTools”, the center for „Intelligent Machine-Brain Interfacing Technology (IMBIT)“ or the „Sustainability Center Freiburg“ is expected. We additionally welcome cooperation with the Hahn-Schickard Institute for Micro- and Information-Technology.

Prerequisites for the employment of professors are a university degree, an outstanding dissertation and an excellent publication record. Substantial achievements and experience in academic research and teaching, at the level of a habilitation according to the German academic system, are expected.
