Title: GROUP DIRECTOR of LOCAL BROADCAST

OVERALL SUMMARY- POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Group Director of Local Broadcast is a leadership role as well as managerial one.
This person sets the working style for the group and is directly responsible for the buying work produced by the team. The Group Director also has a key role in developing and driving departmental initiatives across all regional buying offices. The Group Director cultivates client and media relationships specifically at senior levels.
KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
Media Buying and Execution:
-
Initiates projects/presentations dealing with broad scaled matters both internally and externally OR
-
Conceive of big picture partnerships with media properties to the strategic benefit of clients
-
Collaborate with Regional Spot Director’s to ensure negotiation, pricing strategy and operational efficiency is consistent across all offices and competitive within the marketplace

Together with Regional Spot Directors develop and drive initiative and projects across the department
-
Seek to expand local broadcast portfolio in conjunction with EVP of Local Broadcast
Client & Internal Relationships:
-
Meet with key client leads to assess needs in regard to local broadcast and to keep planning groups updated on new initiatives and success within the local broadcast group

Local Broadcast client lead for Pernod Ricard
-
Represents Local Broadcast in key inter-departmental task forces
-
Establishes and maintains business relationships with rep and station management (cable, TV, radio) with in region
-
Represent Vizeum within industry (attending industry functions, joining local market committees)
Strategic Thinking & Leadership:

Collaborate with Research to identify local broadcast needs, etc.

Actively keeps current with industry trends, media tools-buying systems, research, resources and associations
-
Demonstrate problem solving and intervention when necessary
-
Insure key information is provided to team regarding client issues, internal agency issues, changes in account status, etc.

Provide guidance to team members and nurture/promote team environment
-
Construct and deliver accurate, honest and timely performance management documents
-
Agency lead for internal/external local radio matters
-
Oversight of Vizeum’s local promotional team
Communication Skills:

EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

Bachelor’s Degree
-
10 years of local broadcast experience (TV and radio)
-
Proven leadership ability – managed a team of Buyers and Supervisors

Advanced computer skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
