We are seeking a Electronic Fabrication Trades

On any given day, you may be called on to:

+ Plan, lay out, fabricate, modify, troubleshoot, repair, test, calibrate, and inspection of a wide range of electronic and electro-mechanical equipment utilizing sound engineering principles in a research and development, and/or complex production environment.
+ As a condition of employment, Metal Trades positions are represented by the Metal Trades Council (MTC) and represented employees must pay the monthly membership dues or agency fee.
+ **This is for a Limited Term Apprentice Electronic Fabrication position.**


Degree Requirements for Acceptance into Electronics Fabrication Apprenticeship:

+ Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in Electronics Technology or Electronics Engineering Technology, or Advanced Systems Technology as provided by CNM or equivalent, with an overall of cumulative GPA of 3.0 or greater.

Required skills, Physical Assessments, & Certifications:

Once the applicant has submitted their application and resume, there will be several levels of screening as applicable: (1) resume review for direct experience and related work history; (2) skills assessments (3) interview evaluations; (4) pre-employment background reviews (for external applicants); (5) drug testing; and (6) physical job placement assessments. Each screening level must be passed successfully and consecutively in order to be eligible for consideration.

+ A job placement assessment (JPA) will be required as part of the screening for this position. This JPA will evaluate your ability to meet the physical requirements of this job.
+ Responsibilities include consulting with requesters on circuitry, package design, and performance requirements as follows:

- Designing, developing, and preparing electromechanical layouts and drawings using CAD/CAM software and other computer tools.
- The planning, scheduling and fabrication of special test equipment, wiring, harness and cables, cases and chassis; perform complete mechanical, electrical and functional testing and analysis of completed units.
- Work involves utilizing all types of electronic test equipment to develop, set up, and perform qualification and evaluation tests on components and systems.
- Consult and team with other Tradespersons.
- Collaborate with engineers and serve as a fabrication resource on design and manufacturability issues.
- Utilize a computerized database to maintain required records.
- Perform work using industry-standard safety practices. Requirements include completion of a State approved Electronic Fabrication Trades Apprenticeship Program with the apprentice able occupation: Electronic Engineering Technician.
- Obtain new and maintain current required electronic fabrication process qualifications in order to meet current as well as future business needs.


+ Experience with AutoCAD.
+ Good understanding of technical drawings, blue prints and schematics.
+ Knowledgeable of ISO Quality Systems Requirements and IPC-A610 Acceptability of electronic assemblies.
+ Experience working in a Microsoft Windows environment.
+ Hands on electronics fabrication of 3-5 years of experience.

Electronic Fabrication Department, provides Sandia with manufacturing technology in packaging of prototype electronic systems through capabilities that include product design, fabrication, inspection, testing and installation. The department supports Sandia engineering by identifying and meeting customer requirements for the design to application of customized products, through the use of effective and efficient processes.

Security Clearance:

Position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level security clearance.
