Health Promotion Program Coordinator

We have an opening for a Health Promotion Program Coordinator to support the WorkingWell Program (WWP). You will interact with employees, supervisors, line management, industrial hygienists, safety officers, and medical professionals by assisting in the development, implementation, and improvement of the health promotion programs at LLNL.  

Business needs require that this position have an on-site presence multiple days a week. Telecommuting options will be limited.

In this role you will 

  • Develop communications and health education resources to reduce health risks and improve well-being
  • Coordinate, implement and evaluate efficacy of flexibility and mobility assessment service and external vendors associated with onsite services
  • Support health promotion efforts to encourage utilization of WWP (including developing website, blog, newsletter, and WebMD digital health platform)
  • Responsible for the development and coordination of healthy habit programs/services focused on nutrition, behavior change, and health coaching
  • Represent program as technical lead to support program manager, including training and mentoring of program staff and wellness champion network. 
  • Assist with coordination of health screenings by providing coaching support to participants, based on results for lipid and glucose testing, blood pressure, weight, height, waist, and body fat measurements.
  • Regularly participate in several institutional health improvement project teams to develop and administer health and productivity initiatives and programs.
  • Assist in planning and implementation of Lab-wide events including annual health fair.
  • Perform regular needs assessments to compile data measuring the efficacy and impact of health and productivity initiatives in health risk reduction.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Ability to secure and maintain a U.S. DOE L-level security clearance which requires U.S. citizenship
  • Bachelor's degree in a health care, public health, or related field or equivalent combination of education and related experience. 
  • Experience providing health promotion services such as health risk assessments, health screening, and health coaching.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of and experience providing health, nutrition, and exercise coaching services and an enthusiastic and positive approach to helping individuals achieves their health goals. 
  • Experience in development, implementation and evaluation of health improvement or similar programs.
  • Advanced communication and interpersonal skills necessary to effectively interact, present, and communicate technical information to a diverse workforce.  
  • Effective organizational skills with attention to detail necessary to handle multiple complex tasks in a demanding environment with conflicting priorities, tight and changing deadlines, and frequent interruptions while providing high-level customer service and good follow through.
  • Experience working independently and in a team environment with a broad cross-section of people and organizations, managing multiple and overlapping projects, adhering to deadlines.
  • Advanced analytical, decision-making and problem-solving skills to evaluate, interpret, negotiate, recommend, and implement actions/solutions for complex and/or sensitive medical issues.

Qualifications We Desire

  • Master's degree in a health care, public health or related field.
  • California license and Registered Dietitian (RD) Certification, Registered Nurse (RN), Medical Assistant (MA) or related field.
  • Certification in musculoskeletal evaluation and exercise guidance.

Site 300

Site 300 is an experimental test site operated by LLNL.  Situated on 7,000 acres in rural foothills approximately six miles southwest of downtown Tracy and 15 miles southeast of Livermore, Site 300 hosts approximately 200 employees with expertise in such fields as engineering, chemistry, biology, and environmental restoration. Employees assigned to work at Site 300 may be exposed to the organism that causes San Joaquin Valley Fever (coccidioidomycosis).
