High-Risk Embed Security Professional (Experienced)

The Systems Analysis Department, 05912, is seeking a high-risk security professional to work in a team environment focused on the development and implementation of security controls for controlled-access programs. This individual will provide support to staff and management across the 5910 team whose mission is to perform all-source technical analysis of the evolving technological, including nuclear weapon, threats against the United States. In addition, they will oversee multiple programs and work with local and federal government agencies on security-related program matters.

On any given day, you may:

+ Interpret federal laws, regulations, and program specific guidelines
+ Team with individuals throughout the Field Intelligence Element and DOE to implement, improve, and maintain program security within the sponsor guidelines
+ Interpret information and provides oversight of security requirements including advising management, and recommending actions regarding issues
+ Develop, manage, and execute all security policies and requirements for access programs and exercise these authorities on behalf of government approval authorities
+ Serve as the point-of-contact for all program-related security matters
+ Be responsible for the day-to-day operations and management of controlled-access programs
+ Develop and implement programs and tools to increase employee awareness and knowledge of security policies, processes, and tools
+ Support the investigation and resolution of compliance problems, questions, or concerns received from within Sandia and other government agencies
+ Conduct and participate in annual program reviews and audits
+ Conduct inquiries into all program-related reports of potential security concern, as defined by DOE and sponsor directives
+ Assist 0591x technical team leads and technical subject matter experts with a variety of production-related tasks

Required:

+ An associate degree with at least 4 years of experience, or equivalent
+ Knowledge of and experience with one or more major security areas, such as classified matter protection and control, classification, information security, incident management, personnel security, facility clearances, physical security, program security, or computer security
+ At least 4 years of experience properly handling, protecting, and controlling classified material, and knowledge of widely varying classified material policies and procedures
+ Experience providing system solutions to specific security concerns identified by customer requests and security audits
+ An existing DOE Q security clearance or Department of Defense Top Secret security clearance with CNWDI access, ability to obtain/maintain a SCI clearance, and willingness to take a polygraph exam, if requested
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
+ Experience demonstrating strong interpersonal, communication, organizational, and coordination skills
+ Experience demonstrating excellent teaming skills and the ability to work well with diverse individuals and teams

Desired:

+ A baccalaureate degree in a relevant field
+ Knowledge of and experience with classified matter protection and control, personnel security, facility clearances, and program security
+ Knowledge of Sandias security policies, practices, and procedures
+ Experience investigating security-related matters
+ Experience writing standard operating procedures or programmatic guidelines
+ Understanding of controlled access program requirements
+ Ability to conceptualize and communicate major elements of security to both technical and non-technical staff and executive-management level personnel
+ Knowledge, experience, or familiarity with US Government classification marking standards
+ Knowledge of Sandia, US Department of Energy, and Department of Defense security-related policies, practices, and procedures
+ Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently with minimal supervision
+ Willingness/ability to travel (approximately 2-5 times a year)

Security Clearance:

Position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q security clearance to start.

Sandia is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. Applicants for employment need to be able to maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship.
