We are seeking a highly motivated Information Systems Architect to join our cutting-edge team, which deploys and manages High Performance Computing (HPC) systems and associated software.

On any given day you may be called on to:

+ Perform system administration, computer security analysis, management and implementation of cybersecurity plans and associated protections to large HPC or multi server environments running the Linux OS in multiple security domains.

+ Design and implement cybersecurity monitoring capabilities.

+ Learn new technologies, concepts, and processes.

+ Understand technical, functional, and security design requirements of large HPC (or similar) systems.

+ Ensure HPC hardware platforms are fully functional and in good working order.

+ Identify and track system deficiencies, recommend and implement resolutions.

+ Validate that all HPC platforms and associated infrastructure meet corporate and team standards for security, maintainability, scalability, and performance.

Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite at a minimum 65% of the time.

Qualifications We Require:

+ Bachelor’s degree in applicable computer field plus five (5) years' related experience; or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.

+ Five (5) years’ experience in the system administration, design, deployment, diagnostics, and fault isolation of HPC server systems running a Linux operating system.

+ Ability to obtain and maintain DOE Q security clearance

Qualifications We Desire:

+ Experience in some of the following:

+ Hardware and operating systems (i.e. system architectures, network infrastructures, and client–server principles)

+ HPC systems, deploying HPC computer, and storage systems within a large multi-tenant data center

+ Monitoring and fault isolation of high-performance interconnects such as Ethernet, Infiniband and Omni-path

+ Establishment, documentation, and practice of operational safety protocols

+ Working in a classified environment

+ Information systems technical areas: hardware architectural design, network infrastructures and concepts, authentication and access control systems, computer security policies and system’s assurance, platform documentation, monitoring and trend recognition systems, pre-deployment planning, on-site platform installation and deployment of delivered systems

+ Technical certifications or classes in Red Hat Certified System Administrator and/or Red Hat Certified Engineer

+ Apply critical thinking skills to synthesize detailed data into useful information, such as project documentation and developing policies, processes, and procedures

+ Excellent oral and written communication skills

+ Ability to function in a dynamic, fast-paced, multi-disciplinary team

About Our Team:

The High Performance Computing Systems Department (9327) is responsible for the design, acquisition, deployment, and operations of Sandia's large-scale scientific HPC clusters and their supporting infrastructure. The department collaborates closely with 9326 (Scientific Applications & User Support) and 9328 (High Performance Computing Development) to deliver and support production HPC systems and their environments within Sandia and across the tri-labs, for use by Sandia¿s mission programs. To meet the high performance computing needs of Sandia's mission areas, the HPC team acquires, deploys, and operates compute platforms, networks, and storage systems in four separate security environments. The department has expertise in massively parallel computing architecture and operations; Operating Systems; high-speed file system architecture, technologies, and tuning (e.g., Lustre and GPFS); high-speed networking technologies; and computing facility technologies. A focus of the department is the creation of highly repeatable software and hardware environments to enable quick deployment and efficient operations of computational platforms and high-speed storage systems.

Security Clearance:

Sandia is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications.
