We are seeking a highly motivated Information Systems Architect to serve as an IT engineer on a multidisciplinary team focused on delivering novel, high-impact information systems to internal and external partners. The successful candidate will lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of large, mission-enabling IT systems.



On any given day, the selected candidate may be called on to:





+ Design, implement, and manage multiple Linux, VMware, and Windows-based server systems to meet customer requirements, implement cybersecurity requirements, solve problems, or analyze system performance



+ Evaluate and recommend hardware and software technologies for future system solutions



+ Learn and support existing software and hardware systems



+ Apply relevant security standards to information systems and data



+ Collaborate with the customer to elicit and define system requirements







Qualifications We Require:





+ Bachelor's degree in information systems, computer science, computer engineering, or a related field ; OR equivalent education and experience



+ Experience in systems administration or IT systems development



+ Experience with VMware, Linux, or Windows Server-based enterprise architectures



+ Knowledge of hardware and operating systems, including system architectures, network infrastructures, or client–server principles



+ Active DOE Q-level clearance or equivalent





Qualifications We Desire:





+ Experience developing in Ansible, bash, and Python.



+ Experience designing and implementing datacenter networks, knowledge of switching, routing, and access protection



+ Experience with RHEL and STIGs.



+ Ability to collaborate with external government customer to gather requirements, demonstrate technology solutions, and provide domain expertise on IT systems

The System and Environments Engineering Department is a capability based organization that architects, develops, integrates, tests, and deploys large highly reliable mission critical systems using the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe). We have expertise in R&D and Information Technology across many disciplines including large-scale software engineering, computer science, and computer engineering. Our specific capabilities include computer hardware/software architectures, system administration/networking, cyber security, failover/redundancy, continuous integration, system integration/verification, and performance assessment. We leverage these capabilities to innovate high-rigor solutions while supporting existing critical customer needs. Our current responsibility includes support for nonproliferation and national security missions for the US Nuclear Detonation Detection System.

Security Clearance:



Position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q security clearance to start, or equivalent active security clearance with another U.S. government agency (e.g., DOD). Sandia is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. Applicants for employment need to be able to maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship. If you hold more than one citizenship (i.e., of the U.S. and another country), your ability to obtain a security clearance may be impacted.
