Job Description

The Information Systems Researcher (Closed Lab) position in the Electronic Systems Lab (ELSYS) will conduct government-sponsored research developing and integrating information and security assurance systems into classified/closed complex network architectures for avionics and aircraft protection Department of Defense (DoD) programs.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE

  • Define specific requirements and develop information systems to execute DoD sponsor high-level requirements
  • Develop and manage information systems infrastructure needed to support software code development in dedicated or cloud environments
  • Conduct research regarding information systems technology and integrate technologies into complex electronic systems
  • Perform engineering-level analysis of hardware, software, and firmware of systems
  • Analyze and research solutions to allow low-level hardware and legacy equipment to operate in a secure environment
  • Design security and continuous monitoring plans for systems and supplied government furnished information and equipment
  • Research and develop continuous integration systems for software development on DoD sponsored projects
  • Ensure compliance with DoD Risk Management Framework (RMF) standards
  • Conduct formal testing of software and hardware solutions
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Education & Length of Experience

Research Engineer/Scientist/Technologist I

  • A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Information Security, Information Systems, Information Technology, or related field.

Research Engineer/Scientist/Technologist II

  • A Masters degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Information Security, Information Systems, Information Technology or related field and three (3) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree,
  • A Masters degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Information Security, Information Systems, Information Technology or related field and five (5) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelors degree, or
  • A Doctoral degree in Electrical¬†Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Information Security, Information Systems, Information Technology, or related field.

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience with Transition Control Protocol (TCP)/Internet Protocol (IP), IP configuration, peer-to-peer networking, and IP addressing and subnetting
  • Experience with configuring and troubleshooting computer networks
  • Experience with Microsoft Active Directory (AD), Microsoft Group Policy Objects (GPOs), Domain Name System (DNS), and Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP)
  • Candidates currently enrolled in an accredited Bachelor's degree with a graduation date of December,2020 and skills relevant to this position will be considered

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with developing scripts using languages such as Bash, PowerShell, VBScript, and/or Python
  • Experience with Cybersecurity principles and protection methods
  • Experience with Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) practices
  • Experience with software deployment models
  • Experience with centralized virtual machine hosting and troubleshooting
  • Experience with applying Windows and Linux (RHEL) security patches
  • Experience setting up and using VMware products such as ESXi, vCenter, etc
  • Experience configuring server equipment for production use (installing hardware components, iLO, troubleshooting, etc.)

Due to our research contracts with the US federal government, candidates for this position are required to be US Citizens.
