Intern - Electrical Surety Analysis - R&D Graduate Year-Round

Then join this diverse team that helps tackle some of the most ambitious issues facing the nation’s security!The Electrical Surety Analysis organization, 02934, is seeking an R&D Electrical Engineering Graduate Intern to work on analog and mixed signal circuit and/or electromagnetic research and development. We apply modeling and analysis to characterize sophisticated, high consequence nuclear deterrence systems. We consult customers on a range of ambitious electrical system, board, and device level design issues to assure performance and safety goals across nuclear deterrence programs.



On any given day, one may be called upon to:





+ Research device and circuit technologies’ performance in extreme environments



+ Analyze Electromagnetic coupling of Lightning, ESD, EMR, and other environments into complex, high consequence systems.



+ Develop new cutting-edge modeling and analysis techniques



+ Build deep technical understanding of multi-physics problems



+ Apply electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) principles to improve and qualify designs and guide and interpret test results.



+ Apply state of the art EDA tools and/or computational electromagnetics tools to high impact, high visibility electrical engineering problems



+ Support the maturation of futuristic and innovative electrical designs for ND systems

Qualifications We Require:



You bring the confidence and skills to be eligible for the job by meeting these minimum requirements:





+ Earned bachelor's degree



+ Currently attending and enrolled full time in an accredited science, engineering, or math graduate program



+ Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0



+ Ability to work up to 30 hours per week during the academic year, and up to 40 hours per week during the summer



+ U.S. citizenship





Qualifications We Desire:





+ Cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale



+ Graduate coursework in analog circuits or Electromagnetics



+ Excellent technical writing skills



+ Good interpersonal, communication, and oral presentation skills



+ Experience with industry EM modeling tools (CST, COMSOL, ANSYS Maxwell)



+ Experience with circuit modeling tools (Mentor Graphics, Cadence)



+ Experience with computational and numerical analysis tools (Matlab, C++, Python, etc.)
