What Your Job Will Be Like:





We are seeking a Year Round - Technical Graduate Intern to join our dynamic team!



On any given day, you may be called on to:





+ Plan and direct engineering and technical projects for internal and external customers, coordinating as required with work performed in other internal and external organizations.



+ Define system and subsystem requirements, project scope, schedules, cost estimates, and deliverables that support mission objectives.



+ Negotiate deliverables with external customers and partners, builds and leads teams, and organizes resources to implement scope.



+ Apply standard principles and advanced Project Management techniques and tools in developing project plans and detailed work breakdown structures, negotiating work packages, resource loaded schedules, and assigning various aspects of work to complete project deliverables.



+ Calculate, analyze variances, and make project decisions utilizing Earned Value Management System techniques and tools.



+ Manage project resources to ensure that deliverables and objectives are met according to the project management plan.



+ Provide technical or engineering support to one or more aspects of the program or project.



+ Provide leadership and tactical planning for execution of projects and applies engineering or other technical knowledge to achieve project objectives and deliverables.



+ Use engineering or technical judgment, within defined scientific and engineering practices, in negotiating with customers and program managers to ensure that resources are available to accomplish the work, identify procurement and contracting needs, and marshal resources to complete project deliverables within the scope, schedules, and budgets defined in project work packages.



+ Oversee project teams in the planning, tracking, and execution of project plans from initiation to completion.



+ Manage changes in project scope using change management plans, identifies potential issues, and devises contingency plans, as necessary.



+ Use engineering or technical judgment built upon a strong engineering or technical background to lead technical teams, identify potential project risks, develop risk mitigation strategies and corrective actions, and recommend risk acceptance or avoidance for all aspects of the project.



+ Negotiate with the customer on matters of customer requirements and limitations.



+ Conduct technical and program reviews to report status of cost, schedule, and performance to management and customers.



+ Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation, and presentations.



+ Conducts project postmortems and utilizes lessons learned for process improvement.



+ Recommend addition, expansion, or discontinuance of projects.

Qualifications We Require:



You bring the confidence and skills to be eligible for the job by meeting these minimum requirements:





+ Earned bachelor's degree



+ Currently attending and enrolled full time in a related accredited graduate program



+ Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0



+ Ability to work up to 30 hours per week during the academic year, and up to 40 hours per week during the summer



+ U.S. citizenship





Qualifications We Desire:





+ Bachelor's and pursuing a Master's Degree in relevent discipline



+ The degrees should have a combination of Technical and Business focuses (For example; Technical B.S and pursuing an Engineering managment M.S., OR a technical degree with a focus or minor in business pursuing a technical M.S



+ Experience in one or more scientific or engineering disciplines, such as mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, nuclear engineering, systems engineering, physical security engineering, or chemical engineering OR



+ Strong evidence of experience with technical project management practices for technical work, including developing project plans, work breakdown structures, and work packages; managing to scope, schedule, budget, and technical baselines; and documenting baseline reports and change control actions.







+ Ability to make decisions requiring scientific, engineering, and programmatic judgment.



+ Knowledge of the technical or operational discipline of the assigned project.



+ Demonstrated leadership skills, including the ability to successfully plan, organize, lead, and monitor team efforts to completion.



+ Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.



+ Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills.



+ Demonstrated ability to team across disciplines.





About Our Team:







The Energetic Component Engineering-II Department (7553) is responsible for the design, development and external/internal supplier production of non-nuclear energetic components and materials for the nuclear weapons complex.
