Job Description

This position provides technical and Industrial Security knowledge and diverse technologies expertise and leadership to ISSOs and GTRI IT support staff; expert knowledge and experience with Risk Management Framework, NIST 800, JSIG, and NISPOM/DAAPM including writing/implementation of compliant local policy – whitepapers, and variances.

Job Responsibilities:

  • This position develops and trains users of policies and of various technologies, agency guidance, and DoD regulations. Successful history of effective communication with personnel at all levels of the organization chart and project leadership.
  • Development, implementation and direction of accredited Information Systems (IS) security programs; making substantial contributions in the plan, design, installation, modification and operation of IS capabilities; reviewing systems integrity and provide periodic examination of information system operations controls, and security; interfacing with and supporting needs of Lab Senior Management – Researchers and IT support; setting and monitoring standards; preparing activity and progress reports regarding the activities of the IS audit functions and ISSOs/auditors.
  • Planning, organizing and managing security, disaster recovery and similar functions related to information systems. Organizing security investigations and implementation of corrective actions. Leading Incident Response Team to include overseeing cleanup procedures and writing reports to the Cognizant Security Agency.
  • Participation/leadership in configuration management (manage, develop and maintain all printed and online documentation).
    Documentation including, but not limited to, programming and operation documents/manuals and policies/procedures.
  • Performing COMSEC Custodian duties.
  • IT Planning Management, Quality Assurance, IS Management, Information Systems Audit Management, Documentation Management, Network Planning.
  • Linux Administrator, Windows Administrator, Network Administrator, Generic/Proprietary System Administrator, Information System Auditor Manager, Information Systems Security Officer/Engineer, Data Security Administrator Supervisor, Documentation Administrator, Network Control Supervisor, Project Manager.
    COMSEC Manager/Custodian

Education & Length of Experience

Research Engineer/Scientist/Technologist/Associate I

  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Information System or Information Assurance/Security, or related fields.

Research Engineer/Scientist/Technologist/Associate II

  • A Master’s degree in -Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Information System or Information Assurance/Security, or related fields. and three (3) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree.

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • 5+ years of professional experience in Information Security.
  • Candidate must be a US citizen capable of holding a Top Secret DoD Security clearance, active clearance a major plus.
  • DoD Directive 8140/8570, IAM Level II baseline certifications are required for this position within six months of hire.
  • Must possess or be willing to possess CCNA, CISSP, MS Server Administrator, and other certifications as necessary to remain current with technology.
