MITRE is seeking a hands-on interoperability expert to support the adoption of Health Information Technology (Health IT) to improve healthcare at national scale. The successful candidate will have domain experience in healthcare information management, electronic health records, health data standards, and health terminology standards, especially as the standards relate to national policies requiring health data semantic interoperability.

Key Functions:
- Assist in the development of roadmaps for specific Health IT capabilities, program process assessments, program risk and performance metrics, and program impacts
- Provide input on Health IT and related regulations, policies, procedures, and technology alternatives
- Serve as a trusted liaison with federal agencies as well as reachback resource to other MITRE Health IT projects, research, and related health and healthcare activities
- Attend, support, and disseminate knowledge from Health IT and other related federal, MITRE, and industry meetings as required

 

 
Minimum Qualifications:


Candidate demonstrates the ability to synthesize health technology and policy content and knowledge to support the complex and evolving demands of US federal agencies and US national health and healthcare initiatives. Candidate understands the US health and healthcare system, open source software, open health standards (HL7, especially FHIR), and health terminologies (SNOMED CT, LOINC, SOLAR), and is fully responsible for the definition, production, completion, and technical quality of deliverables.

The ideal candidate:
Has a Bachelors or Masters in Science, Engineering, or Health Policy, or has the equivalent, demonstrated industry and/or government experience
Lives and breathes technology as an important enabler of improved health and healthcare
Has a strong analytical and strategic mindset, is creative, flexible and pragmatic
Has a deep familiarity with Health IT policy, including, but not limited to, the MyHealthEData initiative and recent legislative changes such as the 21st Century Cures Act
Has familiarity with the concerns and priorities of the US healthcare stakeholders, both governmental and non-governmental


Understands the US federal health and healthcare vision, including:
Advancing person-centered and self-managed health
Transforming healthcare delivery and community health
Fostering research, scientific knowledge, and innovation, as well as patient empowerment, reducing cost, and increasing competition
Enhancing the nation's Health IT infrastructure


Candidate must be able to work on-site in the downtown Washington DC office 4 to 5 days per week.
