Lead Product Analytics/Data Scientist - PayPal

We are looking for our first product data scientist to join Venmo and take us on the next hyper growth trajectory. You will be embedded with product teams to help them understand new opportunities for growth and monetization. This role will be instrumental in defining the charter of data science team, demonstrate the value of data in building products and potentially build a larger team in due course of time.

Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and drive cross functional data science projects with a focus on product analytics on productfrom beginning to end: build relationships with partner teams, frame and structure questions, collect and analyze data, research, prototype and build out data science pipelines and models in production, as well as summarize and present methodology and key insights.
  • Setup Multivariant testing framework at Venmo and the culture of test & learn.
  • Use and learn a diverse set of techniques spanning machine learning (including deep learning), causal inference, and other forms of statistical modeling to solve import business and product problem.
  • Have had a seat on the table with the product teams in the past and have influenced them to make the right product decisions.
  • Worked closely with data engineering team to influence them to build the right tools to improve the quality of insights and data.

  • 10 + years industry experience in data science or machine learning-focused roles. Preferably in consumer focused tech company.
  • Have worked very closely with the product team in design, setup, and analysis of A/B tests (online and offline) and feature launches.
  • An advanced degree (M.S., PhD.), preferably in Statistics, Computer Science, Physical Sciences, Economics, or a related technical field
  • A strong track record of performing data analysis using R, Python (numpy, pandas, scikit-learn, etc.) and expert SQL skills.
  • Comfortable with Linux/OS X command line, version control software (git), and general software development.
  • Experience using statistics and machine learning to solve complex business problems.
  • The versatility and willingness to learn new technologies on the job.
  • The ability to clearly communicate complex results to technical and non-technical audiences.
