Salary Range:



$86,300 - $142,300



*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate’s experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.



What Your Job Will Be Like:





Are you passionate about using your analytical skills to craft solutions to complex technical issues? Become our next Linux Information Systems Architect and provide system level support infrastructures that facilitate the delivery of scientific and engineering computing environments!



On any given day, you may be called on to:





+ Develop and/or modify information systems



+ Analyze business and user needs, advise on technical solutions and alternatives, and document requirements



+ Coordinate design work and integration for existing and future systems and subsystems



+ Analyze overall architecture of systems including hardware and software



+ Administer all IT systems and services and provide support to the customer community



+ Provide software and application management for customer-facing applications and internal software tools



+ Seek and participate in development opportunities to grow your capabilities and mentor others





This position is eligible for telecommuting up to 40% of the time and the selected applicant must live within a reasonable distance for commuting to the assigned work location when necessary.





Qualifications We Require:





+ Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Information Technology plus 5 years of experience working with the Linux operating system



+ Experience with Linux and/or UNIX system administration



+ Experience with Configuration management tools such as Puppet, Ansible



+ Ability to obtain and maintain DOE Q clearance





Qualifications We Desire:



Experience with some of the following:





+ Cloud and virtual environments



+ Building, configuring, installing and maintaining RedHat Enterprise Linux software



+ Configuring, compiling and installing Linux software



+ Git version control system



+ Multiple scripting languages (python, bash)



+ In-depth knowledge of LDAP authentication and authorization protocols



+ ITIL and Cyber Security standard methodologies



+ Producing detailed technical documentation



+ System administration for Linux/UNIX operating systems and/or Intel x86 platform



+ Hardware architectural design and system integration and implementation;



+ Networking, data storage and retention and/or highly scalable storage systems



+ Fault investigation and anomaly resolution, security and information assurance



+ VMware certification or training



+ Red Hat certifications



+ Ability to function in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary team



+ Good interpersonal, communication, prioritization, and organizational skills



+ Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to identify creative solutions



+ Container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes

Science & Engineering Computing-Environment Services Department, Org 9321, provides advanced capabilities and in-depth support for a broad range of scientific and engineering computing services which include: high performance computing, remote graphics workstations, high performance storage, scientific and engineering applications, web development, software engineering, and continuous integration (compilation and test) environments. The department designs, develops, manages, and provides cutting edge software and tools across multiple platforms used to create complex mission unique capabilities. The department develops and implements new and emergent technologies and capabilities in support of mission and programmatic needs. We partner with other organizations and teams across the Laboratories to deliver user environments, subject matter expert support, and application-level software and tools to support the scientific and engineering communities.
