About Logic
Technology Development
Logic Technology
Development (LTD) delivers programs and modules to ramp new process
nodes, supports HVM and provides a predictable technology cadence
for Intel customers.
About the
Role
Intel is in the middle of an exciting
transformation, with a vision to create and extend computing
technology to connect and enrich the lives of every person on
Earth. To do this it requires focused enthusiastic leaders. Join
LTD and help create the next generation of technologies that will
touch the lives of people the world over for decades to
come.
Principal Engineers at Intel are active
technical leaders inside and outside the company. Activities
include participation in major industry and academic conferences,
voting membership in international standards committees, generation
of patents and technical papers.
LTD Pathfinding
Engineers are responsible for leading scientific research enabling
the pathfinding, technology definition and development of
innovative devices, metal stacks and silicon architectures. They
explore, design, execute, and analyze pre-silicon and silicon
experiments necessary to meet pathfinding specifications for the
targeted process technology node. They participate in development
of intellectual property. They define type and nature of equipment
necessary to exploit understanding gained in process technology
research in collaboration with Components Research, external
research partners and equipment suppliers. They work effectively
with relevant internal and external partners to identify
shortcomings, propose, and evaluate modifications to mitigate
process integration and design issues. They modify and extend
process flows to integrate the many individual steps necessary for
the manufacture of complex silicon designs. They develop and test
advanced Electronic Design Automation tools, creates flows and
scripts to analyze and test design
methodologies.
Responsibilities/Duties:
- Collaborate with Components Research (CR) as well as external research partners to explore new device, metal stack and silicon architecture candidates appropriate for pathfinding as well as work with the competitive analysis team to better understand the competitive landscape and the technology definition team to smoothly coordinate the transition from CR-to-pathfinding-to-technology definition-to-development.
- Use EDA tools, flows/scripts and methodologies to assess impact of potential process feature and module candidates, and their impact on RO-based and block-level PPA and cost.
- Explore, design, execute, and analyze pre-silicon and silicon experiments necessary to meet pathfinding specifications for the targeted process technology node. Use the silicon experiment results to calibrate pre-silicon emulations and simulations to ensure reasonable range of accuracy.
- Collaborate with the pathfinding, technology definition and competitive analysis teams to complete various assessments relevant during pathfinding phase of process technology development. Work effectively with relevant internal and external partners to identify shortcomings, propose, and evaluate modifications to mitigate process integration and design issues.
- Regularly participate in the development of intellectual property, which are then patented to ensure that novel ideas and inventions are appropriate accrued and protected.
- Define type and nature of fabrication equipment necessary to exploit understanding gained in process technology research (in collaboration with Components Research, external research partners and equipment suppliers).
- Modify and extend process flows to integrate the many individual steps necessary for the manufacture of complex silicon designs, so that detailed emulation and simulation work can be appropriately conducted.
