Group 9310, Cyber Security, comprises 4 departments that are responsible for the protection and defense of Sandias cyber infrastructure, its information and the information of Sandias partners\. It is a fast\-paced, highly agile and extraordinarily stimulating environment that attracts people who want to be challenged by some of this countrys hardest cyber problems and are technically curious enough to battle adversaries up to and including nation state actors\. The vision of the Cyber Security Program is to position Sandia to be the Lab the Nation turns to in solving cyber problems\. This Manager will be expected to protect/defend locally while positioning and establishing Sandia as a leader in cyber security at the National level by identifying, assessing and deploying leading edge and leap\-ahead technologies\.



We are seeking a talented leader and sub\-program manager to join this highly collaborative, team\-oriented group and manage the Technology Development Department, 9312\. This manager will be responsible for a portion of the R&D component of the overall Cyber Security Program, capability development, strategic application of these capabilities to the problem space of protecting and defending Sandias cyber environment and management of the line organization, including responsibility for establishing and maintaining an exceptional career environment for recruiting and retention\. The individual selected will be expected to partner closely with other departments in 9310 to understand the threat landscape, establish a vision and strategy for addressing that evolving threat landscape, and execution of that vision/strategy to create a blend of custom and COTS solutions to bolster the defenses of Sandias Cyber Security Program\. This will require an exceptionally strong partnership within 9310 to deeply understand what threats and vulnerabilities those responsible for incident response, intrusion detection and vulnerability assessment see and experience on a daily basis\. They will also lead the Laboratory in conducting the research and development required to determine the appropriate technical solutions in authentication and access control\. Additionally, on behalf of NNSA, this individual will guide the team responsible for ensuring the protection of the Enterprise Secure Computing \(ESC\) environment\. Exceptional performance in this role will require engagement of cyber and mission teams across Sandia NM and CA, particularly within Divisions 1000, 5000, 6000, 8000, 9000 and 10000\.



Required:



+ Bachelors degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering or closely related field plus four years of meaningful experience \-OR\- Advanced degree \(Masters or PhD\) AND a bachelors degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering or closely related field\.

+ Eight or more years of related technical experience\.

+ Demonstrated technical and/or program management experience\.



Desired:



+ Clear and effective written and verbal communication\. Demonstrated ability to develop and present ideas and results in oral and written form\.

+ Experience and ability to successfully manage project commitments including customer interfaces and collaborations that span multiple organizations\.

+ Experience, ability and strong commitment to partner across organizational and institutional boundaries, both internal and external to the Cyber Security Program and Sandia\.

+ Familiarity with Sandias R&D enterprise and S&E environment and capabilities\.

+ Experience with relevant mission domains\.

+ Management experience

+ Experience mentoring and developing early career staff with a focus on career development\.

+ Experience with LDRD, other Lab\-wide research initiatives\.

The Technology Development Department \(9312\) plays a key role in defending Sandia against internal and external cyber\-attacks by performing research/development and deployment of cyber technologies to enable Sandia National Laboratories and the US Government to achieve cyber security objectives at the local and national level\.

Security Clearance:



Position requires a SCI security clearance\.



Position requires a Department of Energy \(DOE\) granted Q\-level security clearance and SCI clearance, which may require a polygraph test\.



Sandia is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre\-employment drug testing, and a pre\-employment background review that includes personal reference checks, law enforcement record and credit checks, and employment and education verifications\. Applicants for employment must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q\-level security clearance, which requires U\.S\. citizenship and SCI clearance, which may require a polygraph test\.
