You will be a member of the Information System Security Officer (ISSO) Cyber Compliance group. Role is to manage and lead a team of ISSOs. The team is responsible for unclassified systems cybersecurity compliance by facilitating and documenting physical, procedural/operational and technical security controls for the purpose of complying with regulatory standards and industry best practices such as internal RTX policies, Cyber DFARS, CMMC, and yet unforeseen rules instituted by the DoD. The team provides independent, comprehensive assessments of the management, operational, and technical security controls and control enhancements employed within or inherited by an information technology system to determine the overall effectiveness of the defined controls.

In this role you will also serve as an advisor on technical and policy matters involving the security of unclassified information systems. You will partner with other managers, system owners, IT system administrators, and security controls assessors to ensure unclassified information systems are brought into and maintain compliance with applicable policies and requirements. This may include liaising with appropriate internal and external governance bodies or regulators to evaluate cybersecurity risks and vulnerabilities, and gain formal authorization to operate. These policies and requirements include but are not limited to compliance with National Institute of Standards & Technology (NIST) Special Publication (SP) 800-171 and 800-53.

You will be responsible for all aspects of people management including: staffing, staff development, training, tool and process development and deployment, administration of performance appraisals and provides technical guidance on issues, questions and problems.

Tasks may include but are not limited to:


  • Assign projects and tasks
  • Manage employee performance
  • Administer time reporting, training, recruiting, and orientation of new employees
  • Lead and manage interviews and selection as part of onboarding process for staff augmentation
  • Work through the team to ensure execution of requirements
  • Assist in the analysis of existing information systems and process flows for operational efficiencies and identify potential enhancements. Develop improved procedures and/or recommend corrective action
  • Evaluate proposals, consider alternatives, and propose solutions.
  • Provide team with technical guidance
  • Prepare and submit periodic progress reports and accomplishments to the next level of leadership


Required Skills:

  • 8 years overall of directly related Information Technology/Information Assurance experience or equivalent, to include leadership and management experience of diverse teams and team members.
  • Understanding the implementation of NIST SP 800-171 and/or NIST SP 800-53
  • Recognized IT security certification or equivalent
  • Proven experience with enterprise risk management concepts including strategic, operational and technical risk management
  • Proven ability to assess system compliance against cybersecurity standards and policies
  • Ability to identify risks and propose risk mitigation solutions
  • Technical writing skills, emotional intelligence and professional communication with strong interpersonal skills - ability to dialogue, negotiate, influence and work with others collaboratively and constructively
  • Ability to work multiple complex initiatives simultaneously
Desired Skills:
  • Passion for information security and demonstrated willingness to be a life-long learner
  • CISSP, CCNA, CISSP-ISSAP, CISSP-ISSEP or equivalent.
  • Ability to participate on cross-functional teams to resolve complex challenges and shape future opportunities.
  • Familiarity with audit concepts and strategies in a highly complex, regulated environment.
  • Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, presentation and influence).
  • Familiarity with DOD Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DCSA) and Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA) audit procedures
  • Familiarity with processes to harden computer systems.
  • Eligibility to obtain a US DOD Secret Security Clearance. Except in rare cases, only US Citizens are eligible to obtain US Security Clearances.
Education (including Major):

  • BS/BA - Information Technology, MIS, Engineering, Science, Mathematics or Business
  • Non Degreed applicants with significant applicable experience will be considered at the hiring managers discretion

This role can be work-from-home or based at one of several RMD locations throughout the Domestic US, which can include: AZ Tucson, CA San Diego, CA - Fullerton, IN Fort Wayne, MA - Andover, MA - Marlborough, MA Tewksbury, MA - Woburn. If relocation is absolutely necessary for the selected applicant, support will be offered as a capped amount if the applicant is eligible per company policy.
